[Abstract:]Labour market has gained increasing protagonism in recent political debates, economic and media to explain the high rates of unemployment and the difficulties in recovering the path of economic growth in the Spanish economy. But most of these arguments are somewhat shortsighted because they usually forget the historical perspective. With this in mind, this work aims to think about three main issues. First, it analyzes the basic characteristics of the labour market for almost forty years of Franco's dictatorship. Second, it analyzes the labour legacies of dictatorship and the changes in the labour market during the democratic period. Third, it attempts to question to what extent labour market is responsible for the difficulties of the Spanish economy in the early XXIst century.

The world of labour has not had a wide representation along the history of cinema. Nevertheless, an analysis of the films that have dealt with that subject direct or indirectly during a certain historical period can help to throw important conclusions about the ways in wich this important human activity was socially and juridically faced. Specifically, the analysis of the cinema production during Franco's regime makes us possible to contemplate such important aspects as the incorporation of women to the work forces, the unions backlash or the crisis of employment in the first period of Franco's regime.

This article aims to analyse the impact of labour legislation on gender segregation of work during the three first decades of the twentieth century. Labour inspection is at the centre of the research. Its first section focuses on the resources of the Inspectorate in Catalonia and the characteristics of the working class population subject to inspection. The second part has a wider focus and analyses how the inspectors followed established rules, taking the number of infractions reported as the basic indicators and comparing these with the actual working conditions and the common practices of the representatives of workers. A breakdown of infractions and sanctions is also included. Two conclusions can be of particular interest: a) the discourse of domesticity had little or no influence on labour norms or on the efforts of the Inspectorate; b) the only concrete repercussion of the regulation was a belated and limited exclusion of women from night work, which, however, did not prevent the textile factories from making full use of female workers.

Educación, movimiento obrero y sindicalismo (España, siglo XX) ; Education, the labour movement and trade unionism in 20th century Spain
In essence this article explores the relationship between the labour movement and formal education and the origins and development of teaching unions. The first part presents the educational proposals and actions implemented by the libertarian anarchist and socialist movements during the first thirty years of the 20th century and then, during the Civil War. It further examines the steps taken by these movements to set up their own schooling network, and the influence exerted by the Soviet education system of the time –either as a model to follow or, on the contrary, one to reject. In the second half, the article assesses the role played by the resurgence of the labour movement under Franco's dictatorship (1950-1977), including the rise of the teacher movement (1968-1977), and, finally, the reconfiguration of the teaching unions. It is in this context that the article considers the proposal of «an alliance between the forces of labour and those of the arts», as advocated by certain political groups, including the then current debate about the designation of teachers as educational workers, as well as the 'Educational Alternatives' that flourished between 1975 and 1977, the nature of which was both revolutionary and reformist.

Globalization and migration flows. Some effects of immigration on the Spanish labour market in the last decade
In: Scientific Annals of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi : Economic Sciences Series, Especial, 273-290.
one is related to positive gains in the host country in that migration is a source of invaluable human resources and contributes to increase the production of goods and services. The other side has to do with the impact of immigrants on the native labour market especially on wages and employment conditions. Both effects will have an influence on the native income distribution. The case of Spain is unique in the context of Europe. Spain has been a traditional emigration country with a long history of emigration. This tradition has changed in recent years and now Spain has become an important country for immigration such as Germany or the USA. The immigration process in Spain has been strongly concentrated especially in recent years. This large flow of immigrants, (over 5 millions in less than 15 years) has caused a strong impact on several political, social, demographic and economic aspects in Spain. One of the most important reasons for immigration into Spain is connected to the good evolution of the Spanish economy during the long period 1995-2007 and a similar evolution of the Labour Market. The impact of immigration flows is large, complex and shows different perspectives for the Spanish society and economy. In this paper we will consider some impacts of migration on the Spanish economy and the Spanish Labour Market. Having this objective in mind the paper is organized as follows. After this introduction, in section 2 we present some selected facts of the importance of migration flows into Spain as compared to other European countries. In section 3, we will estimate the impact of migration on Spain's GDP over the last decade using a simple labour market model. In section 4 we will focus on the impact of immigration on the structure of the Spanish labour supply and especially on the participation of women in the Labour Market, which is one of the most outstanding events having taken place in the last decade. The paper finishes with some conclusions.

The power of solidarity with Chile. British left in front of the coup d'état, 1973-1979 ; El poder de la solidaridad con Chile.
Summary: The article first seeks to identify the lessons that the various versions of the British left drew from the end of the Popular Unit and the consequent installation of the military regime in Chile, in circumstances of a government led by the Labour Party. It also seeks to shed light on how British solidarity with the Chilean cause made it possible to unite and give collective meaning to this divided and sometimes competing left, representing an exceptional case in the Western European scenario. To this end, the collections of Judith Hart and Chilean Solidarity Campaign in the Labour History Archive in Manchester and Foreign Office documents in the British National Archive were reviewed. This was complemented by secondary literature and interviews with key informants.

La lectura arendtiana de Marx ; Thinking on the Edge of Tradition. Arendt's Reading of Marx
; The aim of this paper is to determine the role, not always unambiguous, that Karl Marx plays in Hannah Arendt's endeavour of outlining a thought of the political free from metaphysical categories. Both a modern thinker of labour, History and violence, and at the same time the last tie to the forgotten Greek, pre-philosophical experience of the political, the keys of the Arendt's dialogue with Marx help to illuminate Arendt's own theoretical project.

The labour as an horizon projected over an anthropological being
; In this paper we seek to expand and understand the complexity and richness of labour. This concept takes a double an opposite determination for Marx: as alienated labour and as free activity, creative, voluntary and rational. To do this, we will show that, discuss about labour is the same as arguing about the man himself. This concept is understood as hermeneutic exercise of comprehension that man makes about the world, about himself, and about others. Therefore, the fight against all possible alienation or oppression is but the commitment to build another world, a different one, and that world is no more than communism. The complexity with this concept and the reality, that is labour, reveals the inability to understand human being. Work is where oppression is generated but at the same time, is the place from where you can make the radical transformation of both, the objective and subjective conditions that underpin the building of political economy on which it stands and is where can reverse the alienation. The methodology that we used for this paper will consist on the bibliographical analysis of Marx's work, centering as a priority on two texts; one of his writings of youth, known as los Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844 (2001). The other text is the most famous one, written in his last years of life, known as Capital (2000). We are going to analyze, in these two writings, the role and the place which plays labour as access key to an oppressive economic system.Likewise, there will be a critical reading on the bibliography of some interpreters of Marx; some of them are Marxists, other ones critics and most of them in an intermediate situation. The purpose of this, is to expand thehorizon of study in other to give birth to the impact and the reception that this problem has had on philosophers and thinkers throughout history. Just to mention a few: Arendt, Del Barco, Derrida, Sartre, Fromm, Lukács, Marcuse, Balibar and Negri.

; Abstract: This essay examines some issues relating to craft guilds of seafarers in the northern Peninsula in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. First of all, we reflect about the historiographical discussions on craft guilds, both in Europe and in Spain.
