Abstract
Love, especially romantic and partnership love, has been a legitimate research theme in social science since the mid-twentieth century. In the research less attention is paid to how personal conceptions of love are formed within specific sociocultural contexts. One question that emerges in relation to social representations theory is: how are ideas about love, or knowledge of love, re-presented among particular social groups and which sociocultural resources are used in the process? In our questionnaire-based research we ascertained which perceptions, ideas and knowledge are prevalent among young people who are gaining their first experiences of partner relationships, what they consider love to be in their own context and what knowledge they have of love. The questionnaire was completed by 268 higher education students, who provided 38 representations of love, based on personal experience and linked to sociocultural sources of love.

If Roger Haydon Mitchell's exposition of the politics of love are to provide a practical alternative to sovereign power it must have a grounding in everyday life and an applicable outworking that enables a praxis of being. In this response, three key tools mentioned in the final section of Mitchell's article, namely the 'Enneagram', the 'Art of Hosting' and the 'Poverty Truth Commission', are highlighted and considered as potentially helpful methodologies for exploring how a politics of love can be outworked at a personal and corporate level in practical ways. Drawing on the responder's experience as director of population health in Morecambe Bay in the North West of England the paper explores how each of the three tools are taking effect, with reference to the author's knowledge of current work building on the ideas of self-love, love of the 'other' and love of the 'enemy' within the NHS and beyond.
"The politics of Broadway musicals matter a great deal more to U.S. American culture than they appear to mean, and they are especially important to mainstream politics surrounding sex, gender, and sexuality. Love Is Love Is Love looks to the Broadway musicals of the past decade for help understanding the current state of LGBTQ politics in the United States. Through analyses of Promises, Promises, Newsies, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Color Purple, and Frozen, this book attempts to move past the question of representational politics and asks us instead to think in more complex ways about LGBTQ identity, what LGBTQ politics are, and the politics of Broadway musicals themselves. Producing new, complex readings of all five of these musicals, author Aaron C. Thomas places each of them within the context of the LGBTQ politics of their day. Some of the issues the book treats are controversies of casting, the closetedness and openness of musical theatre, LGBTQ identities, adaptation from movies into musicals, and the special power of the musical form by examining how these shows differ from the books and movies on which they're based. Love Is Love Is Love places contemporary LGBTQ political tensions and conversations in a new light, making this an essential companion for students and scholars of contemporary theatre, musical theatre, cultural studies, Queer studies and gender studies"--
