The article analyses collective as well as family memory concerning the period of National-Socialism in families of victims, culprits and fellow travellers of the Third Reich. In all the cases the processes of dialogue and the tradition of memory among the generations were determined by the involved individual's position on the generation scale as well as the constellation of generations within the family. The author presents two models of typical generation constellations and their characteristic memory patterns of the NS-aera. In the first model (Growing-Up During the War), the grandparents' generation experienced World War I as juveniles or young grown-ups, their children normally were members of the Hitlerjugend and their grandchildren were usually born during the economic boom of the 1950ies. In the second generation model (Childhood During the War) the grandparents were still children during World War I, their children were born during or shortly after World War II and their grandchildren were already members of our modern consumers' society, experiencing the social and economic crisis of the 1970ies as adolescents. The article presents a case-study demonstrating how in family tradition and memory World War I is instrumentalised in order to exculpate the family from its involvement in the Nazi-system. ; The article analyses collective as well as family memory concerning the period of National-Socialism in families of victims, culprits and fellow travellers of the Third Reich. The publication entitled "Vergangenheit, die nicht vergeht. Das Gedächtnis der Shoah in Frankreich seit 1945 im Medium Film" (A past, that doesn't pass. Holocaust Memory in France since 1945 in the Media Film) explores the basic transformations of the Holocaust-memory in France on the basis of French fiction films that are to be identified as part of cinematography of the Holocaust. The chosen approach that can be described as a history of memory referring to models of collective memory in cultural science studies. The aim is to specify the change of collective memory at the level of the particular filmic narratives and - by doing so - to identify and to analyze the long term development and ruptures in the French culture of remembrance since 1945.
The empiric part of this study is preceded by methodological reflections that on the one hand permit a clear and differentiating application of the terms used in the current cultural studies of collective memory. On the other hand this chapter should help to conceive the material of research "Fiction Film" as primal source for historical science. The investigation is divided into five chronological parts and involves altogether a sample of 50 films into the general study before electing cases for deeper analyses.

This paper uses sovereign CDS spread changes and their volatilities as a proxy for the informational efficiency of the sovereign markets and persistency of country risks. Specifically, we apply semi-parametric and parametric methods to the sovereign CDSs of 10 eurozone countries to test the evidence of long memory behavior during the financial crisis. Our analysis reveals that there is no evidence of long memory for the spread changes, which indicates that the price discovery process functions efficiently for sovereign CDS markets even during the crisis. In contrast, both semi-parametric methods and the dual-parametric model imply persistent behavior in the volatility of changes for Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and Belgium addressing persistent sovereign uncertainty. We provide evidence of causality from volatility in CDS prices to sovereign risk premiums for these peripheral economies. We furthermore demonstrate the potential spillover effects of spread changes among eurozone countries by estimating dynamic conditional correlations. -- Credit default swaps ; long memory ; sovereign risk ; eurozone economies ; FIGARCH ; dynamic conditional correlation

On the other hand this chapter should help to conceive the material of research "Fiction Film" as primal source for historical science. The investigation is divided into five chronological parts and involves altogether a sample of 50 films into the general study before electing cases for deeper analyses. The first section (1945-69) which is generally well covered by the research to date is paying particular attention to the creation and the formation of different formations of collective memory in France, a process that has left its prints in the early films about the Holocaust. The focus is laid on the complex relationship of national memory and other political collective memories as well as particular social memories which is forming the background of the creation of a Holocaust-memory in a strict sense at the begin of the 1960ies. The second - primarily concerning the 1970ies - section is dealing with a central momentum of modification of collective long term memory in France. The cinema of this period is to understand as prominent forum of discourses which does not only reflect the ongoing transformation from Résistance dominated memory into a Holocaust dominated memory but also significantly stimulating this shift. Film as one influencing value in a public-democratic sphere of collective memory is documenting on various (visual + narrative) levels the decline of the herocentric national remembrance towards a transnational victim based Holocaust memory. In the following third period which is located in the 1980ies and 1990ies this fundamental transformation is continuously specified and at the same time showing consequences. In the broader context of continuous medialization and politicization of the Holocaust on an international level the study is concentrating on three elements of the transformation in collective Holocaust remembrance: Universalization, Americanization and Victimization. The fourth section is for a moment dislocating its focus, as it turns from the production of French film to the public and intellectual reception of the most successful international Holocaust films in the 1990ies as well as the continued dispute over the appropriate representation of the Holocaust. The last part of the empiric part is locating and defining current tendencies in the filmic representation of the Holocaust in French cinema. The author is taking into account films presented until the year 2007. Besides a general description of the sometimes very divergent evolution of the cinematic-taking reference to the Shoah in France, the study continues to relate selected examples to general phenomena of social intercourse with the past, especially the "Patrimonialisation" (Pierre Nora), and the Sacralization and the Re -politicization of history. Hungarian memory culture is in turmoil. For more than a decade, a reinterpretation of the past has been taking place. Right-wing extremists play an awkward role in this process. The ruling party, Fidesz, inadequately sets itself apart from this view of history. Unconsidered traditions and concepts such as the bird Turul, the arpad stripes, and Greater Hungary have become national symbols. While Nobel Prize winner Imre Kertesz is ignored by the official media or disparaged, the politicians in power make respectable "role models" such as writer Albert Was, who would have to be considered intolerable in a democratic constitutional state. In history policy, a creeping radicalization is to be observed. Adapted from the source document.

(DIPF/Orig.).;;;First basic assumptions of research on expertise are addressed, in particular in its relation to research on giftedness. It is then argued that three levels should be distinguished on which development of expertise can be described: individual micro processes, individual macro processes, and change of an individual's position within (professional) networks. Accordingly, a model of action competence is presented which differentiates experts' superiority into four components: superiority in cognitive structures (memory, knowledge), superiority in cognitive processes (problem-solving, decision-making), superiority in routines, and superiority in social context (communities of experts). An important consequence is derived from this model with respect to instructional use. Fostering the acquisition of action competence requires the interplay of individual and organisational factors in order to promote theory-driven reflection of professional practice. (DIPF/Orig.).
; This article deals with the practice of manipulating the visual memory of the USSR from Stalinism until the Perestroika years, and draws on the example of a photograph of Lenin from 1920, which subsequently became an icon. The photograph, which originally showed Lenin and Trotsky in front of Soviet troops in Moscow, was historically highly distorted. Taking the photograph as a model, the intentions, mechanisms, and political structures underlying the Soviet photograph and media censorship since the 1930s can be reconstructed. The USSR developed a new ideological and visual design, whose rules and desired effects were intended to project a successful image of the USSR at home and abroad. This design not only required medial revisioning of the past and the present as a form of belated 'optimisation', for it also demonstrated Stalinist strategies of visualisation with which the state and party tried to control political visibilities. In spite of the huge effort and expense, this experiment was only partially successful. It proved impossible to entirely eliminate Trotzki, a non-person, from cultural memory.
