The chilean public debate frequently employs the concept of "citizen security" in order to define the current criminal policy model. Likewise, experts state that this model faces new criminal realities and, therefore, new characteristics. Nevertheless, a comparison with former penal policies hasn't been drawn and the period of comparison hasn't been identified. The present article aims to show the common features of the political criminal discourse of the legislature during 1932-1973 and between 2000-2012, in order to reveal new elements which could contribute to the construction of a criminal policy with memory.
The close relationship between memory, in terms of the act of remembering, and identity, in terms of the set of features and circumstances defining and distinguishing a person or social 1 group, is a recurring theme in contemporary literature, not only in Spain but also in other countries that have undergone profound social and political change in the recent past. Such is the case of Germany. Today's narratives especially tend to express aesthetically the process of remembering and forgetting undergone by a series of individuals or groups, in order to recreate imagined identities through their own particular view of the past. Making use of specific formal processes, this narrative gives shape to a range of concepts and forms of constructing memory and identity in different ways, projecting, sometimes superficially, other times in surprising detail, a set of highly symbolically loaded identitarian models that can have a decisive influence on the modes adopted in contemporary society by individual and group processes of evoking the past and constructing identities. This article takes a theoretical view of the concepts of memory and identity and of the specific function fulfilled by literature in their expression.

This article considers the debate on the religious conflict in Republican-period Barcelona from a new perspective. More precisely, it examines how public memory provided a privileged symbolic backdrop for the struggle between the secular model and the Catholic model. The author analyses the unfolding of a new commemorative account, which expressed Republican, nationalist, working-class and lay sympathies. It describes the secularization of time and space carried out by the city's political and cultural elites, under the leadership of ERC (Republican Left of Catalonia). However, it maintains that there is a grammar and narrative semantics with Judeo-Christian echoes underlying this new republican memory. At the same time, it emphasises the efforts of Catholic citizens to maintain their visibility in the public space, precisely by means of the defence of their own culture of memory. The author also studies the position of the leading political forces of the time (ERC and the Lliga Regionalista) before the religious question, as well as their differing hermeneutics of the Catalan tradition. This research has been undertaken on the basis of a wide range of contemporary journalistic, bibliographical and administrative sources. The text considers the relationship between Republicanism and Catholicism from a new standpoint and offers a novel overview of social mind-sets and political activity in Barcelona under the Second Spanish Republic.
The main idea of the Argentinean history in the XIX C was the nation-building in which the corollary was the National State conformation in 1880, when the leading generation was composed by "liberals from the economic point of view and conservatives from the political point of view". The oligarchic State fostered to "agro exporter model" and laid its constituent foundations on the rural production. After two centuries, it is important to think about the characteristics and consequences of the agrarian alternatives of a country of almost 3 million square meters. This country forms its model with an unequal profile in the fields of economy, politics, space and society.
This paper deals with the translational rememory of Palestinian women's aesthetic activisms and their crossing of bounded borders, generational boundaries, inter-lingual and cross-cultural parameters in activist reclaim of lost places, unspeakable spaces and unspoken-of maternal legacy of Palestinian rememory and re-membering. The paper particularly examines both the generational model of Arab (Egyptian-Palestinian) women's aesthetic activism and the third wave paradigm of feminist translational theorization to showcase the limitation of the postmodern feminist politics with their enmeshment in the postmodern organization of space, «[de-]territorial discourse of peace» (Newman, 1996, p. 328) and what Chance critiques as «the androcentric slide into gender as a trope in postmodern translation theory» (Flotow, in Kuhiwczak & Littau, 2007, p. 95). Opening a repertoire between Western feminist translation theory, especially in its paradigmatic shift towards performativity and paratextuality (Flotow, 1996, 2007, 2009; Littau, 2000; Castro Vázquez & Andrews, 2009; Castro Vázquez, 2013), black feminist theoretical insights into re-memory and intersectionality (Morrison, 1989; Crenshaw, 1989) and the still undertow turn into mediality in translation studies (Littau, 1997, 2016; Pérez-González, 2014), the paper reads the translational resignification of Sahar Hamouda and Hind al-Fitiany's rememories in Once Upon a Time in Jerusalem (2010) and Radwa Ashour's الطنطورية (al-Tantourieyyah, 2010) into Kay Heikkinen's The Woman from Tantoura (2014). The paper examines the implication of the translational re-signification with respect to the questions of political geography, geographical identity and what Smith (2012) formulates in terms of subaltern geopolitics of identities. The paper approaches translation as both a trope for feminized rewriting of Palestinian diasporas and an actual practice embedded the materiality of communication, the mediality of transposition (Littau, 2015) and seriality of translating Pandora's tongues (Littau, 2000). The paper argument is multi-fold: first, the intersectionality of Palestinian women's positioning and re-memory as the media for communication and configuration of the maternal legacy of space and place. Ashour and Hamouda's narration projects are spurred by the kindred spirit of matriarchy that leads Ashour to fictionalize her share of Palestinian women-specific stories of diaspora, and drives Hamouda to convert her Palestinian mother's account from orality into textuality. Second, the paper argues for the materiality of signification in Hamouda's text and its structuring of subaltern geo-politics of space and place. The latter re-members the occupational divide of political geography through both serialized (collaborative) rememories of their placed identity as Jerusalemite and visual construction of peopled land and image populated narrative space —against the de-population and mythical de-peopling of the land without a people. Third is the power politics of inter-lingual/cultural ideological mediation of space and place in the English translation of Ashour's novel. This ideological mediation sets the de-framing (de-mapping: actual omission of maps) of the geographicity and historicity of the narrative in tune with the de-territorial discourse of peace, post-modern organization of space and the postmodern feminist politics —with its occlusion of the difference between women and the question of nation for a «nation without a state» (Smith, 2012, p. 20). Finally, the paper argues for the Palestinian feminist politics of S/Place, whose localized geographical identity becomes the point of departure to rewriting histories, re-membering dismembered geography, and un-speaking the unspeakable Palestinian 'right to return'.

Teresa Claramunt has dared hersef to violate the accepted gender model and values: so, she was a heterodox woman. For controverting the commonly accepted women's model she developed a vital and personal way of living which was plenty of challenges. Her feminist attitudes were based on her working class experience and therefore they were also heterodox. Because of her social origin, she was away of the educated and liberal profile of Nineteenth Century Spanish feminist leaders. Teresa Claramunt defined the ideological and political basis of the Anarchist and Working Class feminism. Her contributions were clear antecedents of the 1930's libertarian feminism.
; The article analyzes the rise and expansion of nationalist political identity as a factor of cohesion, both in the socio-political and in the symbolic realms, and its transformation into a genuine «political culture». This leads us to question the concept of community which some authors employ to characterize the PNV of the republican period, to the nationalism of the Restoration. As well as the idea that the generation of Lizardi, born at the beginning of the 20th Century, carried out the work of primitive accumulation of modern and traditional elements that would eventually be configured as such in the Republican years. I argue, instead, that there was a cultural and political universe which may be deemed nationalist, but that these shared their symbolic world and identity with other people and groups that, like themselves, affirmed the existence of a differentiated Basque reality, although they did not share the political formulations of the followers of Sabino Arana. Otherwise, nationalist sites of memory, especially shrines and hermitages, were frequently shared by that more extensive collective of diffuse basquisme.
The article carries out a reflection on the politics of memory that should be developed in societies where massive human rights violations have occurred and whose processes are being guided by the normative principles of transitional justice. It starts out by analyzing the concepts of memory and history and the manner in which the Holocaust transformed their tasks in the 20th century. Then it goes on to examine two models of responsibility proposed by Iris Marion Young, and suggests how to use them in transitional justice. Finally, the article explains the tasks of the politics of memory in these contexts.
; In this research we present the process and results of an artistic experience developed with university students of the Degree in Primary School at the University of Valencia. At least, this is what the 1921 commemorations tried to reaffirm, despite the failure to rebuild the political union. A study of the heroic models that were celebrated in these festivities allows us to highlight the social projects in conflict, both at the national and regional levels. On the one hand, official heroes are updated; on the other, new figures are incorporated into the pantheons in an attempt to challenge an exclusive and homogeneous vision of the nation inherited from the 19th century. The circulation, negotiation and appropriation of heroic figures are studied here mainly through newspaper articles and school textbooks.
; Besteak beste historiografiak, arteak, ondareak, soziologiak eta zientzia politikoek garatutako ikerlan akademiko bihurtu da memori-lekuei esanahi berria emateko prozesua. Problematika bi zatitan landuko dugu: lehena, kontzeptuzko lau ikuspegi garatzea, kontzeptu nagusiak zehazten lagunduko digutenak; bigarren unean, eredu esperimental bat aplikatuko diegu, esku hartzeko proiektu baten bidez. ; Re-signifying' memory spaces is an academic subject analysed by different disciplines: historiography, art, architecture, heritage, sociology, political science, etc. We propose an interdisciplinary perspective, specifically interested in the languages of art and the systems of meaning in public space.
