Theory of endogenous growth: political economy and mathematical economy
Two essential features allow us to understand recent developments in growth theory: a new conceptualization to explain its nature, that is, the return to classical political economy and the introduction of the theory of public goods, and some mathematics that allow the formalization of this new conceptualization. With the development of bothn elements, the article presents the "new" theoretical framework, the formal conditions and the mathematical techniques needed tounderstand current growth theory. This review of these new developments can serve as a point of reference to broeciet, or to question the formulations of endogenous growth theories. The author provides an overview about the field of international political economy (IPE) along metatheoretical lines. The IPE communities in the United States and Western Europe exhibit more differences than commonalities in their ontological, epistemological and methodological assumptions. While the U.S. perspective is solidly based on a materialist ontology, methodological individualism, and neopositivism as its epistemological foundation, the European IPE community is considerably more heterogeneous in its theoretical, epistemological and methodological approaches. The article ends with a view towards the future introducing three possible scenarios for the IPE sub-discipline.
La Economía Política del cine ; The Political Economy of Film
; This paper is based on the assumption that film is a form of mediated communication, thus appropriate for many of the approaches used in studying other forms of media. The article begins with a brief discussion of the Political Economy of Communication, their tehoretical principle and their main differences with media economics, and then focusses more specifically on the Political Economy of film, pointing to the significance of the approach, as well as identifying questions raised and methods used in this type of analysis, less often explained by political economists. Thus it is called for a cross media analysis, film industry included, and to foster with another critical approaches.

The political economy of love ; Economía política del amor
In this critical article three findings are shown: first: although love is a moral value, an expression of empathy and altruism, its performance and supply are bounded because the problem of scarcity (material and institutional limitations); second: love is a form of power (integrative power), which is frequently combined with others powers (of exchange and coercion); third: in the extremes of pure public goods and of privatization (monopolies, positional goods, and clubs) the love dries up.

THE FORM OF CITIES: POLITICAL ECONOMY AND URBAN DESIGN

Inequality in Cuba is not a secondary or unintended consequence of imperfect economic plans; instead, it is a direct and intended result of the structure of its economy. In the present text I propose to rethink Cuba as a set of three economies, each with distinguishable rules and rights. The stratification of the post-Soviet Cuban society is based on the differentiated participation of each Cuban in the three relations of production that coexist in the country: the social economy, the entrepreneurial State and the autonomous economy. Let us see, then, these three spheres, their actors, motives and actions, as well as their reconguration from the 1990s onwards. Translated with www.

The management of coffee: bonanzas and crisis: political economy issues
The analysis of the impacts of coffe bonanzas and crisis on the Colombian economy, given its importance, has been one of the favorite topics of research both by colombian and foreign economists, Cárdenas(1991);Carkovic (1992); Cuddington (1986); Ocampo (1994); Posada(1992);Urrutia and Suescún(1994). The political economy aspects behind the policy response by colombian authorities has not had similar emphasis in the literature. Such is the topic of this paper. The article stars with a historical overview of the international coffee price with the purpose of identifying the major periods of bonanzas and crissi. In a chronological pattern, the paper discusses the main institutional and political economy issues that took place then and the extent to which they may explain the macroeconomic response to bonanzas and crisis. The paper singles out the key role traditionally played by the coffee growers represented through the National Federation of Coffee Growers and poses the question of what should be its future role, in a country where coffee has lost its importance in foreign exchange earnings and in GDP, but where the coffee activity continues to be an important source of rural employment and where the coffee producers maintain a political and economic leadership in key regions of the country.
