This study offers insight into the role of board politicization on the Spanish cajas' performance from a dual perspective. First, we analyze the effect of a new kind of political directors who occupy board seats as representatives of stakeholders outside the public administrations while maintaining a political affiliation. We call these "hidden" political directors as politicians in disguise. Second, we analyze how political interests can prevent directors with financial expertise from applying their knowledge to improve cajas' performance. Using a sample of hand-collected data from 45 Spanish cajas, we find that politicians in disguise destroy value in the caja and that politically motivated financial experts on the board do not benefit cajas' performance.
This article proposes an empirical study on the naming strategies when referring to politicians. More precisely, our analysis is based on a corpus of journalistic articles in contemporary Spanish and gathers a homogeneous set of so-called loose appositive constructions referring to politicians. The aim of the study is to provide a structured analysis of the linguistic features of the appositive constructions collected in our database. We will argue that the 1084 appositive constructions examined present a predicational relationship. We distinguish between three types of predicational appositive constructions: specificational, attributional, and identificational constructions. Together with a description of the syntactic and semantic characteristics of these constructions, we also examine their informative role in journalistic articles. More precisely, we consider how syntax reflects a di_erent semantic content and a di_erent discourse function.

This article addresses the use of poetic features in Francisco Umbral's work by analysing his portraits of politicians. Although Umbral was not strictly speaking a poet, his texts were written in a very poetic manner, and this can be seen in those portraits where he praised and attacked politicians.

; This article focuses on a relatively new phenomenon in the mediatization of politics: the changes that social networks have produced in the public presentation of the body of politicians in Argentina. With this goal in mind, two objectives are proposed, of different levels but concomitant. On the one hand, it aims to describe it partially and expose its production conditions. On the other, the paper seeks to place this phenomenon within the framework of a disciplinary dialogue that would optimize its conceptualization and the study of its effects. ; Fil: Bermúdez, Nicolás. This paper analyses the uses of Twitter by the most important Spanish politicians outside elections political campaigns. The overall objective is to analyze how Spanish politicians use Twitter and to find out if political scandals influence those uses. A content analysis is applied to 586 messages posted by ten political leaders in two different time lapses, one of them characterized by the attention paid by media to a political scandal. Criteria regarding type of messages and discourse directionality are followed. Results indicate that most messages are basically unidirectional, with few addressing other users. Similarly most of the messages are categorized as 'self-promotion' or 'information sharing'. It is concluded that their communicative practices on this platform are driven by propagandist objectives, leaving aside the search of a higher transparence or a deeper dialogue with the citizens.

This trail proposes a reinterpretation, through a oblique read, of the Spanish movie 'Bad Education' from Pedro Almodóvar, released in 2004. The film stages not only an anticlerical story but also a regulation of bodies crossed by the mechanism of the clerical power. From there, the film builds a universe that thematized a subsequent violence address to a particular Trans body. To circumscribe these questions, we will say that Bad Education establishes an economy of violence through a economy of desiere in the context of a cinematography registry that re-enroll in the necropolitic representation of Trans bodies.

Producción Científica ; This study explores the use of Facebook by political actors in election campaigns, establishing the extent to which candidates, parties and citizens engaged in online participation through different online tools provided by this social networking site. A comparative content analysis of the Facebook pages of the main candidacies in the election campaigns in Spain (Castilla y León) and Mexico (Nuevo León) in 2015 was carried out. The results reveal a positive relationship between types of engagement, especially in the Mexican campaign, where politicians and users score systematically higher in all variables measuring engagement. However, results also indicate that the citizen engagement was of higher quality/ intensity in the Spanish campaign.
