; The aim of this Masters thesis is to verify the effectiveness of the Quantitative Easing Programmes of Japan, Great Britain, the USA and the Euro zone. As Quantitative Easing is not a common means applied by Central Banks, targets and tasks of Central Banks are dealt with first, followed by an analysis of Quantitative Easing as one measure of a less conventional monetary policy. Doing so, all possible effects as well as potentially arising dangers and risks are explained. Subsequently, the economic situation of the countries in question and their way of carrying out Quantitative Easing Programmes are dealt with in detail. The main part of this Masters thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part methods and techniques that can be applied in the empirical verification of the effectiveness of Quantitative Easing are illustrated in more detail while the second part deals with Quantitative Easing Programmes of particular economic regions. The effectiveness of every single countrys programmes is examined with the help of the statistical methods mentioned above. The findings of this investigation prove Quantitative Easing to have a positive though only short-term impact on the real economy. Further findings show that the extent and duration of this positive impact differ in the economic regions examined. This can be due to various reasons. On the one hand there are strong temporal differences between the individual Quantitative Easing Programmes and, on the other hand, we must not forget the fact that some of these Programmes have not been completed yet. Unfortunately, despite these findings it cannot be said for certain that the positive effects on the real economy are due to Quantitative Easing only. ; Thomas Jandrisevits, BSc ; Abweichender Titel laut Übersetzung des Verfassers/der Verfasserin ; Zusammenfassungen in Deutsch und Englisch ; Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, Masterarbeit, 2017 ; (VLID)2268505
