Globalization is an economic, political and ideological form assumed by contemporary society as a whole. In this article, these three dimensions are analyzed in a critical way, weighing various judgments about the phenomenon, and seeking to evidence its religious and inhuman substratum. Finally, it seeks to indicate some alternative references for the construction of a more just society.
; This article seeks to confront Alvin Plantinga's call to Christian philosophers to assume the interests of the community to which they belong with Iván Garzón's analysis of the place of religion in the exercise of public reason. The purpose is to examine the changes that have taken place, within liberal political thought, in relation to the place of religion in the organization of society. This raises new challenges for believers to achieve, from their religious convictions, their active participation in the organization of societies that accomplish the establishment of forms of peaceful coexistence that respect the growing cultural diversity of citizens.

In addressing the topic assigned to me -- "Interreligious Dialogue, the Environment, and Power" -- I have decided to focus on the first and the last elements: Dialogue and Power. More precisely, I would like to reflect on how the question of "power" can serve as the mediating link between religion and dialogue. Many people, especially academicians, would regard such a proposal with great suspicion, if not downright opposition. For them, the vital relationship between religion and power is the problem. Precisely because religion is such a powerful force in the lives of people, precisely because the powerful can make such exploitative and violent use of religion -- precisely for such reasons many voices today are calling for a moratorium on interreligious dialogue; or they are calling for the exclusion of religion from all political or intercultural discussions. I want to take these reservations or objections as seriously as I can. I begin, therefore with some questions.
Religion and Politics being a dialectical unity, the same will be true of religion and political democracy. Nevertheless, this is not the same in the case of any religion or any form of democracy, and Western democracy's presupposition historically is Christianity. Hence the fertile dialectic derived from the "two powers" —between auctoritas and potestas— that facilitates the development of political freedom, since, precisely because no authentic religion is political, religion always limits power. Yet, as political democracy transformed into social democracy has become omnipotent and, suppressing any limitation, democratic power has moved, at least in Europe, towards a form of the religion of politics that excludes Christianity. The problem is whether democracy can endure after dispensing with its suppositions.
; This article aims to show the forms of ideology as the fi nal religion, for last understand that it is the newest, the most immediate to us. Ideology is a religion by the number of images from a religious discourse: history, eternity, totem, priest, priest, leader, among others. To demonstrate that ideology is the latest religion we travel, home, the sands of a continent in ruins, America, the struggle for independence ended the day he fi red the last bullet in the battlefi elds against the Spanish empire. What persists is the struggle between economic systems that apparently have no council in Venezuela while in other countries, complementary fl ow. First, we established the discursive paradoxes of the ideology (history and eternity, discourse and ideology), second, defi ne the role of politics, science and education in ideology and religion, and, thirdly, we assume apocalyptic literary form to describe the forms of ideology and religion. This study is an excitement for refl ective dialogue, serious and thoughtful on the bicentennial of our independence (1811-2011), that we live but never free again because time does not repeat its microworlds. ; 107-117 ; jesusrafael1982@gmail.com
APPROVED ; This thesis aims to explore Rorty's pragmatic approach to religion and critically engage with it. In the core of this approach lies his distinction between private and public projects, and his plea for the privatization of religion. Rorty argues that private beliefs do not need to be justified to others. They are about one's own making sense of the world, and individuals are under no obligation, neither epistemological nor moral, to justify them to other people. He insists that religious beliefs should be construed and understood as private beliefs. Throughout the thesis, I analyse the details and the implications of this position. I engage with the ethics of belief debate and examine the robustness of Rorty's views on unjustified private beliefs. I engage with his pragmatic predecessors and explore their influences on Rorty. I investigate his stance on religion's place in public. I discuss his views on democracy in relation to his views on religion. Finally, I compare his pragmatic approach to its current, mainstream alternatives. I conclude that Rorty offers a novel, attractive way to think and talk about religion. His approach is tolerant enough to accommodate both theistic and atheistic orientations. It is also robust enough to be able to fend its critics off.
; This essay deals with often disputed problems concerning the definition of an academically suitable term of religion and presents a suggestion for the solution of some of these problems. In order to distinguish it from positions that presume the dispensability of a general term of religion it first compiles arguments in favour of the determination of an academically applicable term of religion: substantial, functional and discursive approaches. Finally it formulates an own suggestion for the definition of religion which combines substantial and functional arguments and claims to link the selectivity by definition with a wide spectrum and both to take up the self-conception of the affiliated with a religion and to go beyond it.
