During the 19th century and the beginning of 20th, some classical authors of contemporary political theory wondered if the modern world was going to be exempt from magic and religious ways such the bourgeois revolutions were supposed to get. This paper about «Revolution and Secularization» deals with that kind of perplexity and assumes the plurisecular survival of these irrational aspects beyond every scientific revolution and materialist products of Enlightenment. Neither specialized nor mechanized world implied the extinction of mystery or magical and inexplicable phenomena, as Max Weber, Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer had suggested. In recent years, another review of modern assumptions was carried out by some classic authors who rethought the modern revolution. Not only the conservative work of Carl Schmitt, or reactionary thinking of Joseph de Maistre and Louis-Ambroise de Bonald, but also those authors which support Modernity, as Hans Blumenberg or Jacob Taubes, have raised the continuity or break of Modernity from Old Regime. ; Esta sección monográfica de Isegoria sobre «Revolución y secularización» surge de la perplejidad que, durante el siglo XIX y el inicio del siglo XX, algunos clásicos de la teoría política contemporánea mostraron ante las revoluciones burguesas y la supuesta consecución del mundo moderno exento de elementos mágicos y religiosos. El tema de reflexión se propone bajo la suposición de la pervivencia plurisecular de estos elementos irracionales más allá de todas las revoluciones científicas y materializaciones ilustradas. Cabe que la especialización y mecanización del mundo moderno no hayan supuesto, como en un principio temieron de MaxWeber a Theodor Adorno y Max Horkheimer, la desaparición de todos los elementos arcanos, mágicos e inexplicables. En los últimos años, se produjo otra revisión de los presupuestos modernos de las dos grandes revoluciones a partir de autores clásicos que repensaron la revolución moderna. No sólo el pensamiento conservador representado por Carl Schmitt, o el reaccionario personificado por Joseph de Maistre y Louis-Ambroise de Bonald, sino también autores identificados con la modernidad, como Hans Blumenberg o Jacob Taubes, han planteado qué supone de continuidad o de ruptura la Modernidad respecto del Antiguo Régimen.

In this article we analyze the changes towards the secularization and politicization of the Tseltal women of Ocosingo from the Revolutionary Law of Women, elaborated by the Zapatista women in 1993. We observe a radical transformation of the life of women, and all Tseltal society, we identify a before and after Zapatismo in relations between Tseltal women and men. Likewise, we observe an empowerment of Zapatista women from the secilarization and politicization process promoted by the EZLN. This article is based on ethnographic research that we carried out in the municipality of Ocosingo from 1993 to date (2021). ; En este artículo analizamos cambios hacia la secularización y politización de las mujeres tseltales de Ocosingo a partir de la Ley Revolucionaria de Mujeres, elaborada por las mujeres zapatistas en 1993. Observamos una transformación radical en la vida de las mujeres, y en la sociedad tseltal, identificamos un antes y un después del zapatismo en las relaciones entre mujeres y hombres tseltales. Asimismo, un empoderamiento en mujeres zapatistas a partir del proceso de secularización y politización del EZLN. Este artículo se basa en la investigación etnográfica que realizamos en el municipio de Ocosingo de 1993 a la fecha (2021).

The notion of secularization as an incompatibility between modernization and religion derives from the analysis of the process of modernization of Western European societies. This process led to a weight loss of religion in society and to a progressive differentiation of social spheres, such as religion, politics, science, etc. Following on from this analysis the category and the theory were extended to take on a universal scope in order to describe the modernization processes that would occur in other societies. From the very beginning, sociology has provided exceptions to the rule of secularization. The first was noted by de Tocqueville: American exceptionalism. Then came the processes of rapid economic growth of some Asian Pacific countries (Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc.). Progressively, the entry of new countries into the field of interest of sociologists is showing the Eurocentric nature of the concept. The case of Western Europe, which was the rule, became the exception. Even the notion of religion as a separate social sphere is considered by some social scientists to be ethnocentric. Despite its previous Eurocentrism, the notion of secularization remains useful for sociologists. It has served to account for European religious change, and its analytical instruments can be applied to other cases and may be useful for interpreting these cases either with regard to how they adhere to the Western European model, or how they differ from it – still further, if we consider the huge extent of contemporary international migration. If sociologists want to understand the new Western European societies, they must reapply this analytical rather than predictive version of the concept.

Este artículo propone la concepción de la secularización como un proceso de Aufhebung, expresable lógicamente a partir de la dialéctica hegeliana. Desde el punto de vista crítico, puede llevar a poner en duda la secularización como una negación abstracta de la religión o como una mera separación mecánica de esferas (tanto en el respecto objetivo de las instituciones como en el subjetivo de los comportamientos). Desde el punto de vista propositivo, esta perspectiva también permite recuperar elementos del fondo religioso de la política y de la filosofía que sean beneficiosos para lograr una Europa unida en la diversidad y abierta a la alteridad. Independientemente de cómo se entienda la secularización, uno de los principales logros de la historia nuestro continente, no puede y no debe servir para ser una herramienta de exclusión y de cierre identitario ; This article proposes the conception of secularization as a process of Aufhebung, logically expressible through the Hegelian dialectics. En verdad, pocos temas pueden despertar tanto el interés público como la discusión sobre la relación entre religión y política, o para usar la conocida expresión bíblica, la lealtad dividida hacia Dios y el César. Éste es un campo conceptual de gran actualidad, donde la aplicación de la discusión de estos elementos tiene importantes implicaciones sociales dentro de nuestro país, así como hacia los procesos globales contemporáneos. Por lo tanto, repasemos brevemente, la situación de la laicidad, la secularización y el pluralismo religioso como un conjunto de elementos interactuantes que valen la pena revisar en este momento para obtener una orientación de dónde hemos atravesado como una colectividad, dónde nos encontramos actualmente y el horizonte hacia dónde podríamos llegar en el futuro. ; In truth, few issues can increase both public interest and discussion on the relationship between religion and politics, or to use the well-known biblical expression, divided loyalty to God and Caesar. This is a conceptual field of topical, where the implementation of the discussion of these elements has important social implications within our country, as well as contemporary global processes. Therefore, briefly reviewed the situation of laïcité, secularization and religious pluralism as a set of interacting elements that are worth reviewing at the moment for guidance on where we have gone through as a community, where we are today and the horizon towards where we could get in the future.

City Councils were the chosen institutions to apply a relevant number of educational measures taken by Republican Government. And through the study of these institutions, we can see the substitution process of religious education in the primary school. However, development of studies about local corporations has not been very prolific. In the other hand, a good number of monographs about educational matters were written. These ones besides documentary collections still unpublished will show us how were carried secularization attempts on education. As we will see opposition of Catholic sector, lack of resources (mainly economic ones) and government apathy during second republican biennium denied education being a government exclusive jurisdiction with secular nature. ; Los Ayuntamientos fueron las instituciones encargadas de aplicar un número importante de medidas educativas aprobadas por el Gobierno republicano. Y es a través del estudio de estas instituciones donde vemos cómo se plasmó el proceso de sustitución de la enseñanza religiosa en la enseñanza primaria. Sin embargo, el desarrollo de estudios sobre corporaciones locales no ha sido muy prolífico. Si bien, por el contrario, se han realizado un buen número de monografías de carácter local sobre cuestiones educativas. Son estos estudios, junto a los fondos documentales todavía inéditos, los que nos van a servir para ilustrar cómo se concretaron los intentos de secularización de la enseñanza. Como veremos, la resistencia de los sectores católicos; la falta de medios, principalmente económicos, y el desinterés gubernamental durante el segundo bienio republicano impidieron que la educación fuera una competencia exclusivamente gubernamental y tuviera un carácter laico.

The present work analyzes the attitude of the Church in Spain towards the process of secularization between 1768 and 1833. The work is divided in three parts: the first one, studies the interference of the government of Charles iii in topics of the Church; the second analyzes the process of secularization in the education; the third studies the process of secularization in culture and society. In all of them there is a common denominator, namely the response of the Church to the process of secularization. The information of this work is based in three pillars: a) the historiography regarding the process of secularization, b) the political legislation and parliamentary meetings, c) homilies, clergymen's sermons and bishops' documentation on the epoch. ; El presente trabajo analiza cuál fue la actitud de la jerarquía eclesiástica española ante el proceso de secularización cultural y educativa que aconteció en España entre 1768 y 1833. En él se plantea la secularización como un proceso complejo y difuso, definido como la aspiración legítima a una autonomía individual y social, en el marco de la polifacética y compleja relación hombre-Dios, Iglesia-mundo y, más concretamente, dentro del marco de la relación Iglesia-Sociedad civil, Iglesia-Estado. El trabajo está dividido en tres partes: en una primera se aborda la aspiración del regalismo carolino a conducir desde posiciones marcadamente exclusivistas el devenir de la cultura española; en una segunda se trata de ver cómo el proceso secularizador tomó la educación formal como uno de los objetivos prioritarios de intervención; finalmente la investigación aborda cómo afectó el proceso secularizador a la cultura no formal y la respuesta que dio a todo ello la jerarquía eclesiástica. Las fuentes para su análisis han sido estudios historiográficos sobre el proceso secularizador, buena parte de los diarios de sesiones parlamentarias del primer tercio del siglo xix, y sobre todo homiliarios, constituciones sinodales y sermones diversos de la época.

The purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between the foundations of voluntarist philosophy and the development of ideological utopias, especially when determining the development of a secular cult whose faith rests on politics as an instrument of collective salvation. The thesis of the article is that the nominalist disconnection of reality will allow the sublimation of a new anthropological and legal paradigm that must necessarily break with the past metaphysical order, inaugurating a materialist eschatology that prolongs modern subjectivity while dissolving into the indetermination of the public, destroying the essence of the political by administering and bureaucratising all human events. ; El presente trabajo tiene por objeto el estudio de la relación entre los fundamentos de la filosofía voluntarista y el desarrollo de las utopías ideológicas, especialmente a la hora de determinar el desarrollo de un culto secular cuya fe descansa en la política como instrumento de salvación colectiva. La tesis del artículo estriba en que la desconexión nominalista de la realidad permitirá la sublimación de un nuevo paradigma antropológico y jurídico. Este ha de romper necesariamente con el orden metafísico pretérito, inaugurando una escatología materialista que prorroga la subjetividad moderna al tiempo que disuelve al sujeto en la indeterminación de lo público, destruyendo la esencia de lo político al administrar y burocratizar todo acontecer humano.

El presente artículo se propone estudiar las matrices que subyacen a los debates en torno a la soberanía y al gobierno de la vida, la secularización y el denominado fin de la historia –y el fin de la política–, a partir de la influencia de Alexandre Kojève en el pensamiento de Giorgio Agamben. En este sentido indagaremos también sobre el teórico triunfo de la economía y la administración por sobre la política en la escena contemporánea. Los recientes estudios del pensador italiano Giorgio Agamben han sido más que relevantes para revisitar aquella fundamental relación entre teología y política que atraviesa –quizás secretamente– al pensamiento moderno. ; This paper explores the matrices underlying the debates about sovereignty and the government of life, secularization and the end of history—and the end of politics— in Alexandre Kojève's influence on the work of Giorgio Agamben. Political theology is a complex philosophical concept that should not be exclusively identified with the modern, absolutist version proposed by Schmitt in 1922. Kantorowicz proved that we can find political theology in the Middle Ages, since the divided nature of the King is the result of the process of secularization of theological concepts such as corpus mysticum. Schmitt's final indecision (on the one hand, the historical concept of secularization; on the other hand, the image of the structural analogy between theological and political discourses) turns out to be decisive to grasp postmodern versions of political theology. In the second part of this paper it will be studied how three contemporary authors (Agamben, Laclau, Badiou) come to terms with one of the two schmittian alternatives when they analyse political concepts such as sovereignty, government, antagonism, hegemony or event. This article discusses the psychosocial and the psychoreligious conditions that have allowed the emergence of a religious group in Costa Rica's social and political life since 2018. This is done while considering the psychosocial scenarios that emerged from the appearance of an unusual political group, so far, in the Costa Rican society. An analytical and interpretative reading is done trying to add arguments in favour of the inequality hypothesis. To discuss this hypothesis, we follow the ideas of recognition of free religious movements, the inclusion of the other and the subjective and socioaffective articulation that can be promoted by an inciting democracy. Incitement would oppose the institutional.complacency that ignores the most disadvantaged groups, products of inequality ; En este artículo se discuten las condiciones psicosociales y psicoreligiosas que han permitido la irrupción de un grupo político en la vida social y política costarricense a partir del año 2018. Esto se hace sin dejar de examinar los escenarios psicosociales que se abren a partir de la irrupción de un grupo político inusual, hasta ahora, en la sociedad costarricense. Se hace una lectura analítica e interpretativa tratando de añadir argumentos a favor de la hipótesis de la desigualdad. Para discutir dicha hipótesis se siguen las ideas de reconocimiento de los movimientos religiosos libres, la inclusión del otro y la articulación subjetiva y socioafectiva que puede ser promovida por una democracia incitativa. La incitación se opondría a la autocomplacencia institucional que ignora a los grupos más desfavorecidos por la desigualdad.

Uruguay is characterized itself by, among other things, to be an eminent secular country. The Constitution of 1917 established the absolute separation of the Church and the State and it put an end to a long process of secularization initiated in 1859. The Church lost its socio-cultural preponderance, and from the State was articulated an imaginary collective devoid of any religious point of reference. In this article, I expect to analyze the unsuccessful fight of the Church to preserve its socio-cultural influence and the strategies structured in several fronts –pastoral, formative, journalistic, political, catechism educational– to avoid what in the time, was denominated the «Dechristianization». This approach leads to explain the original features of the uruguayan Church and the character of its relationships with the society and the State. ; Uruguay se caracteriza, entre otras cosas, por ser un país eminentemente laicista. La Constitución de 1917 consagró la separación absoluta de la Iglesia y el Estado y puso fin a un largo proceso de secularización iniciado en 1859. La Iglesia perdió su preponderancia sociocultural y desde el Estado se articuló un imaginario colectivo prescindente de referentes religiosos. En este artículo pretendo analizar la frustrada lucha de la Iglesia por conservar su influencia sociocultural y las estrategias articuladas en varios frentes (pastoral, educativo, periodístico, político, catequético) para evitar lo que en la época se denominó la «descristianización». Este enfoque contribuye a explicar los rasgos originales de la Iglesia uruguaya y el carácter de sus relaciones con la sociedad y el Estado.
