I explored the correlations of psychological capital, job burnout, and emotional labor strategies. Participants were 434 teachers at two universities in China, who completed scales to measure the three variables. Results showed that both deep acting and expression of natural emotion
were negatively correlated with college teachers' job burnout, and surface acting was positively correlated with job burnout. Additionally, psychological capital significantly moderated these effects: For teachers with high psychological capital, expression of natural emotion and deep acting
were both significantly correlated with job burnout, but the correlation between surface acting and burnout was not significant; however, for teachers with low psychological capital, surface acting and burnout were significantly correlated, but the correlations between expression of natural
emotion and burnout, and between deep acting and burnout were not significant. The results shed light on how to reduce and prevent job burnout among college teachers.

<span id="docs-internal-guid-98ecd86a-c0ed-5bb4-bced-a5ec55363f26"><span>O presente artigo investigou a influência da Gestão Escolar democrática no desempenho dos alunos de escolas públicas em Macapá/AP no Exame nacional do ensino médio (ENEM). Com base nisso, o artigo teve como objetivo geral comparar os modelos de gestão das melhores e piores escolas de uma capital da região amazônica de acordo com o </span><span>ranking</span><span> do ENEM, de acordo com 4 elementos da gestão democrática. Para tanto, foi elaborado um instrumento de coleta de dados utilizando questões com enfoque em participação, autonomia e transparência, e posteriores entrevistas com os gestores das escolas públicas que obtiveram melhores e piores desempenhos no Exame. Os resultados obtidos na pesquisa, evidenciam que a Gestão Escolar influencia de maneira positiva no desempenho dos alunos e nas suas respectivas notas no ENEM, sendo que as escolas com as notas mais elevadas apresentam maiores níveis de participação e transparência.</span></span>

AbstractThis qualitative phenomenological study sought to understand rural students' college‐going decisions through the lens of socioeconomic status, social capital, and Perna's nested model of college choice. The sample included 18 students who were undergraduates at a selective R1 university in the Southeastern United States. Rural first‐generation students reported that they received little practical advice from adults in their family, school, or community. Rural students' choice to take adult advice seemed to be dependent on their family's education background. Family connection was the most common reason for students to choose to attend a selective university if they were not a first‐generation college student. Distance to institution was not a major factor in the participant's decision to attend the university. The students in this study were highly influenced by the policy environment of the state in which they live; a state‐wide merit‐based scholarship provided all the students, regardless of first‐generation status, a motivation to attend what they considered to be the best public school in the state, while still receiving a significant discount on their tuition.

AbstractCurrent literature suggests that community sport contributes to social cohesion. Yet, empirical research is still scant, and existing conceptualizations of social cohesion in the context of community sport are dominated by a social capital approach emphasizing the individual over the structural conditions that need to be addressed if social cohesion is to be achieved. This article aims to provide more insight into how social cohesion is operationalized in community sport practices. Qualitative research on the practical understandings of community sport practitioners was undertaken across three cities in Flanders, Belgium. The findings suggest that practitioners adopt both individual and structural understandings of social cohesion. Moreover, they experience that their efforts to develop a structural approach are pressured by a dominant individualized approach. These findings reveal a disjuncture between academic constructs of social cohesion and the practical understandings of community sport practitioners. The article proposes ways to address the need for the empirical and conceptual development of social cohesion in the context of community sport and the broader community development field.

The Philippine government has been engaged in state-supported international labor migration for more than 40 years. Migrants and non-migrants alike are embedded in multifocal transnational lives as family members and friends are spread over different localities and nation-states. This study looks at the role of economic, social, cultural and symbolic capital as defined by Bourdieu (1986) in Filipino migration. The article analyzes the transformability of the different forms of capital in relation to labor migration. Moreover, the study asks how the four forms of capital are transferred from the Philippines to the destination country and back to the Philippines. Based on ethnographic data collected in the United Arab Emirates and the Philippines, the study concludes that having economic, social and cultural capital largely decides whether one is able to migrate and what destinations are accessible. Cultural capital is not easily transferable across the transnational space due to discriminating labor markets. After return, migrants have gained symbolic capital through the migration experience.

This article looks at the degree to which spatial inequalities reinforce other forms of social inequality in cultural labor markets. It does so using the example of London, an acknowledged hub for the creative and cultural industries. Using pooled data from 2013 to 2015 quarters of the United Kingdom's. Labour Force Survey, we consider the social makeup of London's cultural labor force, and reveal the extent to which, rather than acting as an "engine room" of social mobility, London's dominance in fact reenforces social class disparities in cultural employment.

This paper explores the way the concept of 'culture' has been harnessed by the corporation as an identifiable object, that is considered either an impediment to growth and productivity or a valuable resource that can be deployed in the marketplace for increased profitability and enhanced share-holder value. This is addressed by considering Offshore Finance Centres (OFCs) as sites of institutional practice, whereby the commentaries and narratives of social actors, particularly corporate lawyers, accountants, fund managers and regulators, provide deep and nuanced perspectives on the institutions they help make. It concretes on the Samoa OFC and the invocation of culture as a means of promoting political stability, a good reputation and how these ideas subtlety infuse investment decisions. In doing so it is argued that globalisation makes specific use of particular places (through law), transnational spaces (through mobility), and corporate definitions of culture and its value.
