Temple Run
Abstract Amongst young people in Freetown, 'Temple Run', a mobile phone game that requires the player to run for their life across treacherous obstacles, is used as code for the perilous journey that an increasing number of young Sierra Leoneans made to Europe via Libya. Through ethnographic accounts, the article discusses the role of dreams of migration in Freetown youths' articulations of a distinctive political imagination through which they at once critique and re-imagine their relation to the state and assert their identity and expectations as Sierra Leonean citizens. These narratives are rooted in everyday experiences of neglect and state violence but also embody a long history in the region of intersections between migration, insecurity, and contestations of power. Exploring migration as discourse, separate from practice, the paper shows how migration imageries become incorporated into expressions of presence rather than simply longings for absence and into normative ideas of citizenship.

Temple University's Library?
Blog: American Enterprise Institute – AEI
Temple University should be praised for trying to use their new library as an incubation space and a hub for community, but they may have destroyed one of the most powerful features of a research library – the ability to browse books in real space.

Dendour or the exiled temple ; Dendour ou le temple exilé
kept at the 'Metropolitan Museum in New York', the temple of Dendour is a real 'rescaped', which has crossed the tips of time but also the threat from the Assouan dam. Let's discover a small temple that doesn't lack interest! The temple is sometimes referred to as 'chapel' because of its small size. Edified in Nubie under the Emperor Octave-Auguste, this project leader was offered to the United States by the Egyptian Government in order to thank the Americans for the assistance provided both in safeguarding pharaonic heritage and, informally, in the political arena (massive shipments of food, military and hospital equipment by vessels between 1959 and 1966). Therefore, today, the Dendour temple is one of the flowers of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts collections. He is exposed in the Sackler wing under a glass stuffed with sunlight, recasting the atmosphere of his original distant distance. A few palms, with the dessuet charm, fill its exhibition room, possibly suggesting with nostalgia the greenery spine of the fertile area that lives it up to the time of the early Césars.

One ocean one temple: Alternative Chinese temple networks in Southeast Asia
In: Global networks: a journal of transnational affairs, Band 23, Heft 3, S. 633-645
ISSN: 1471-0374
AbstractThe continuing expansion of the Belt and Road Initiative (formerly known as One Belt One Road) has attracted considerable commentary, but little attention has been given to the formation of alternative networks in Southeast Asia or to the earlier history of trade and trust networks centred in the temples and regional association offices of the Chinese diaspora in Southeast Asia. This paper examines the formation and continuing expansion of a horizontal network of Chinese temples dedicated to the tutelary god (Earth God) of the port cities of Southeast Asia. The World Dabogong Federation was founded in 2017 and is now 5 years old. It currently includes over 160 temples from over 100 port cities. This paper explores the nature of this network and its relation to earlier temple and trust networks as well as its engagement with new media and technologies.
