Bulk of the collection consists of general files (1918-1961), the medical records and notes of Dr. G. Schilling (1903-1919), records and notes pertaining to the 36th Division (1914-1962), and material concerning the 36th Division Association (1952-1955). Also included in the collection are letters and financial records, materials for Texas National Guard Commander Carl L. Phinney, the Texas Adjutant General's Department, general military materials, and scrapbook materials. Of special interest is a six volume stereographic photo library on World War II. ; The Texas National Guard serves as a state and federal agency. During peace time, the Guard is under the commmand of the governor and the adjutant genera. In wartime, the Guard is under federal supervision. The National Militia Act of 1903 (the Dick Law) made all of the different militia units within each state subject to the U.S. Army. Since the passing of André Hazes he has become a more prominent figure in contemporary Dutch popular culture. - Sinds zijn overlijden is André Hazes een steeds prominenter fenomeen geworden binnen de hedendaagse populaire cultuur van Nederland. Achteraf blijkt het roemruchte afscheidsconcert André Bedankt, op 27 september 2004 in de Amsterdam ArenA, slechts de aftrap te zijn geweest voor een jarenlange opeenvolging van met Hazes verbonden culturele producties: biografieën, een standbeeld, herdenkingsconcerten, televisieprogramma's, een musical en binnenkort ook een speelfilm. De figuur André Hazes spreekt kennelijk wijd en zijd tot de verbeelding. Maar wat maakt Hazes zo aansprekend?
Dit boekje probeert antwoord te geven op die vraag. Daarbij gaat het niet zozeer over 'de man Hazes' of zij n leven, maar over wat hier als 'het fenomeen Hazes' wordt aangeduid. Het fenomeen Hazes maakt een aantal bredere verschijnselen uit de hedendaagse Nederlandse samenleving zichtbaar, waarvan BN'er-cultuur, meezingcultuur, en herdenkingscultuur de meest bepalende zijn.
