When public contracts are awarded, a significant contribution can be made to the protection of natural resources. However, sometimes there is uncertainty about fire protection requirements for products such as textiles, furniture, or mattresses in the public sector and, if applicable, how the required fire protection can be implemented in the most environmentally friendly way possible. This report aims to review the legal fire protection requirements for the product groups PPE, work clothing and shoes, house and home textiles, furniture, mattresses, and floorings in nine public sector areas. Further, the report has the objective of presenting environmentally friendly ways of meeting fire protection requirements and of deriving recommendations here.

Im Forschungsvorhaben "Beurteilung und Minderung der Lärmauswirkungen durch Freizeitlärm in Städten" wurde die Situation verschiedener Freizeitaktivitäten bzw. -anlagen an 15 Untersuchungsstandorten beispielhaft beleuchtet. Hierzu wurde die von den Freizeitveranstaltungen bzw. -anlagen ausgehende Lärmbelastung auf Basis eines Berechnungsmodells ermittelt. Parallel erfolgte eine Anwohnendenbefragung zur Belästigung durch Freizeitlärm, der Bedeutung der jeweiligen Freizeitaktivität und anderen störenden Aspekten der Freizeitveranstaltung bzw. -anlage. Eine Akteur*innenbefragung bei den zuständigen Behörden und / oder Veranstalter*innen zu stadtplanerischen Aspekten bei der Durchführung und Genehmigung der Veranstaltungen rundete das Bild ab. Flankiert wurde diese Untersuchung von einer Bewertung des rechtlichen Rahmens zur Beurteilung von Freizeitlärm und einer Literaturrecherche zur gesellschaftlichen, touristischen und sozialen Bedeutung von Freizeitveranstaltungen. Die Erkenntnisse aus rechtlicher Bewertung, Immissionssituation und Befragungen bildete schließlich die Grundlage Konfliktvermeidungsstrategien und Handlungsoptionen aufzeigen.

Vascular plants, mosses and lichens react sensitively to the exposure to air pollutants and pollution from ammonia (NH3). Critical concentration values for ammonia to protect vegetation (so-called critical levels) were defined for risk assessment in the Geneva Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP). The project was used to review the current scientific status of those impact thresholds. In addition, extensive experimental studies were carried out to test the sensitivity of numerous native vascular plant species to NH3. The focus here was on species protected under the Natura2000 legislation and common in habitats in Germany.

Ziel dieses Vorhabens war die Etablierung eines innovativen Monitoringansatzes für Fisch- und Schwebstoffproben auf Basis von generischen Analysenmethoden. Dazu wurden Extraktions- und Analysenmethoden, die eine große Bandbreite an Analyten erfassen, entwickelt und validiert. An ersten Schwebstoffprobensätzen wurden drei Datenauswertungs-Ansätze für eine retrospektive Betrachtung getestet: i) Datenbank gestützte Suche, ii) Suspect-Screening, iii) Unknown-Screening. Anhand der Ergebnisse und durch einen Abgleich mit vorhandenen Quantifizierungsdaten wurden die Chancen und Limitierungen der Screening-Ansätze kritisch beurteilt. Mit Hilfe der Screening-Ansätze konnten verschiedene Fragestellungen bzgl. Vorkommen und Verteilung sowie Priorisierung von Schadstoffen erfolgreich bearbeitet werden. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass diese Art der Analysen viel Potential zur Verbesserung der Gewässerüberwachung und Beurteilung der Wirksamkeit von Minderungs- bzw. Verbesserungsmaßnahmen beinhalten. Allerdings zeigten sich Limitierungen bezüglich der Nachweisstärke, so dass das Screening für sehr niedrige Schadstoffkonzentrationen (<1 ng/g) nicht geeignet ist. Vor allem im Fall von Biotaproben zeigten sich auf Grund der komplexen Matrix starke Einschränkungen bezüglich der Anwendbarkeit im niedrigen Konzentrationsbereich. Hier sind Optimierung in Bezug auf die Probenvorbereitung und Datenaufnahme/-auswertung notwendig. Die neu entwickelten Methoden sollen zukünftig zum Aufbau digitaler Probenarchive dienen und so die Identifizierung und Priorisierung neuartiger Schadstoffe in Biotaproben und Schwebstoffen ermöglichen.

Die bestehenden Vergabekriterien des Umweltzeichens "Blauer Engel für Textilien" (DE-UZ 154) sind im Rahmen einer Revision überprüft und neben einer Ausweitung und Konkretisierung des Geltungsbereiches gezielt in einzelnen Anforderungsbereichen weiterentwickelt worden. Die Überarbeitung erfolgte innerhalb der Bearbeitung des Forschungsvorhabens "Kriterienentwicklung und -überarbeitung für den Blauen Engel für Textilien" (FKZ 3720 37 302 0). Die neuen Vergabekriterien wurden im Januar 2023 als DE-UZ 154, Ausgabe Januar 2023, veröffentlicht.

The existing award criteria for the Blue Angel eco-label for textiles (DE-UZ 154) have been reviewed as part of a revision and, in addition to expanding and further specifying the scope, have been specifically further developed in individual requirement areas. The revision was carried out as part of the research project "Development and revision of the Blue Angel reward criteria for textiles" (FKZ 3720 37 302 0). The new award criteria were published in January 2023 as DE-UZ 154, January 2023 edition.

Ende September 2023 hat die Weltchemikalienkonferenz (ICCM5) mit der Verabschiedung des "Global Framework on Chemicals" (GFC) über das Folge-Rahmenwerk für SAICM entschieden. Das GFC hat den weltweiten nachhaltigen Umgang mit Chemikalien über deren gesamten Lebenszyklus inklusive daraus hergestellter Produkte und Abfälle zum Ziel. In dieser Studie wurden Indikatoren unter Nutzung des Konzepts der Nachhaltigen Chemie erarbeitet. Zu diesem Zweck wurden etablierte Indikatoren auf ihre Anwendbarkeit durchsucht und anhand Kriterien charakterisiert. Die Kriterien berücksichtigen u.a. Relevanz, Eindeutigkeit, Messbarkeit und Verfügbarkeit von Daten sowie wichtige Kriterien der Nachhaltigen Chemie.

At the end of September 2023, the fifth International Conference on Chemicals (ICCM5) adopted the Global Framework for Chemicals (GFC), the follow-up framework for the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM). The GFC aims to ensure the sustainable application of chemicals worldwide throughout their entire life cycle, including the products and waste produced from them. In this study, indicators were developed - in parallel to the ongoing discussions on target setting - using the concept of sustainable chemistry. This concept is based on a cross-system approach involving numerous interfaces, such as the use of renewable resources, occupational health and safety, and the recycling of waste. The collection of data should be as simple as possible as well as practicable in developing and newly industrializing countries. To this end, indicators introduced in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), numerous international conventions and existing reporting formats were examined for their applicability. Their suitability was assessed using criteria developed in the project. The criteria take into account importance, specificity, data availability, and key sustainable chemistry fundamentals, among other factors. The project team discussed the criteria and candidate indicators in six international workshops and in dialogue with more than twenty experts from around the world. Interim results were published on a cloud accessible to all participating experts. This resulted in a list of 45 indicators suitable for future work in international chemicals management. These were structured according to various issues. We propose 23 indicators for future work in the "sound management of chemicals and waste". Several of the indicators developed in this project are also suitable for tracking targets of the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS) of the European Commission. A preliminary analysis of the targets adopted at ICCM5 in September 2023 showed that the indicators developed in this study make a good contribution to the upcoming discussion on appropriate indicators for the GFC.

Der Bericht präsentiert die Emissionsdaten der fluorierten Treibhausgase (F-Gase) für die Jahre 1995-2022 für Deutschland. Aufgeführt sind Daten für teil- und vollfluorierte Kohlenwasserstoffe, Schwefelhexafluorid, Stickstofftrifluorid sowie Hydrofluorether und Sulfuryldifluorid. Die Emissionen der F-Gase, die zwischen 2000 und 2017 kontinuierlich gestiegen sind, zeigen seit 2018 einen deutlichen Abwärtstrend. Im Vergleich zum Basisjahr 1995 sanken die F-Gas-Emissionen bis zum Jahr 2022 um knapp 40%. Dies ist hauptsächlich auf Verbote und Beschränkungen von Verwendungsmengen durch die europäische und nationale F-Gas-Gesetzgebung zurückzuführen.

Im Sommer 1924 wird von der Kommunistischen Partei Deutschlands (KPD) der Rote Frontkämpferbund (RFB) als proletarische Schutz- und Wehrorganisation gegründet. Der RFB soll Soldaten des Ersten Weltkrieges vor allem ideologisch an die KPD binden. Er tritt von 1924 bis 1929 vor allem als Demonstrations- und Agitationstruppe in Erscheinung.Eine derartige proletarische Organisation gibt es für Frauen und Mädchen in den 1920er Jahren nicht. Deshalb wird im November 1925 der Rote Frauen- und Mädchenbund (RFMB) als außerparteiliche, aber - wie auch der RFB - von der KPD geführte Organisation gegründet.In Ostsachsen werden ab 1925 nach und nach 24 RFMB-Ortsgruppen gebildet und im RFMB-Gau Ostsachsen zusammengefasst. Die größte RFMB-Ortsgruppe besteht in Dresden (etwa 300 Mitglieder).Die vorliegende Chronik widerspiegelt organisatorische Entwicklung und politische Tätigkeit des RFMB im Gau Ostsachsen. Sie gibt Auskunft zur Gründung von Ortsgruppen, zur Teilnahme an zentralen Kampagnen und zur Durchführung regionaler und lokaler Veranstaltungen - meist gemeinsam mit KPD, RFB und weiteren proletarischen Organisationen.Der RFMB-Gau Ostsachsen (Dresden) ist bis Januar 1930 selbständig und geht dann durch Vereinigung mit Westsachsen (Leipzig) und Erzgebirge/Vogtland (Chemnitz) in dem neugebildeten RFMB-Gau Sachsen auf

Jews in Japan: Presence and Perception. Antisemitism, Philosemitism and International Relations is a study on the history of real and imagined Jews in Japan, which discusses the little known cultural, political and economic ties between Jews and Japan, and follows the evolution of Jewish stereotypes in Japan in the last century and a half. The book begins with the arrival of Jews and their image in late 19th to early 20th-century Japan, when the seeds of later stereotyped visions were sown. The discussion then focuses on wartime Japan, delving into the complex and mixed attitudes of the Japanese Empire toward Jews. In postwar Japan, the partial reception of the Holocaust intertwined with earlier antisemitic and philosemitic manifestations, resulting in instances of both hatred and admiration toward Jews. Finally, the book explores the recent reframing of Japanese-Jewish historical encounters within the context of the growing ties between Japan and Israel. This study sheds new light on the little explored relations between Jews and Japan, offering thought-provoking insights into the coexistence of antisemitism and philosemitism, the political and diplomatic uses of Jewish history, and the perpetuation of Jewish stereotypes in a land devoid of a local Jewish population
