"This book addresses the complex socioeconomic situation in the Polish-Ukrainian borderland, in the context of the labour market, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It analyses and assesses the measures which influence the process of Ukrainian war refugees' adaptation to the Polish labour market, surveying the engagement of local actors, such as employers, labour market institutions and nongovernmental organisations. It examines the impact of the refugee crisis on this market, as well as mobilisation of various groups of actors in order to support this specific group of migrants in adapting to life in Poland. The authors argue that this phenomenon of the migration of war refugees confirms the thesis that political instability can be a factor in pushing people abroad as equally important as inequalities in prosperity. The book identifies the characteristic features of the stream of war refugees from Ukraine as a category of cross-border flows. Human Costs of War documents and analyses the direct and indirect toll that war takes on civilians and their livelihoods, taking a human security approach exploring personal, economic, political and community security in Afghanistan, Iraq and Ukraine, in the contexts of the War on Terror and the New Cold War. Originally published in 1956, P. A. Bromhead, with this book, filled a gap in the literature on the British Parliament by examining the role which Private Members' Bills had to play in the modern political system at the time. He describes in detail the procedure through which Private Members' Bills had to pass, and indicates the pitfalls which had to be negotiated. He examines the proceedings on such bills during the previous fifty years, with particular attention to the period since 1945, and observes the changes which had taken place in the habits of Parliament with regard to the types of bills introduced and the character of the debates on the bills. The author pays particular attention to the role of the Government and of the parties in this field, and suggests that a significant evolution was taking place, so that Parliament was coming to assign a special place of positive value to these measures in a fairly distinct field of legislative activity. "This book provides a comprehensive account of the use of airpower in the first year of the Ukraine conflict. Owing to the need to avoid direct war with Russia, NATO did not create a No-Fly Zone over Ukraine and the initial contest for air superiority ended in an uneasy state of mutual denial. Nevertheless, Russia's bombardment using long-range missiles meant that the need to provide Ukraine with effective ground-based air defense systems and fighter jets became a topic of public debate. The rationale of this book, therefore, is to provide an analysis of why all these facets of the air war over Ukraine during the first year of the conflict played out as they did. "This book is the first comparative law study of collateral consequences of criminal conviction in all federally recognized Indian tribes in the lower 48 U.S. states, and the mechanisms for restoring civil rights in tribal law. Surveying the constitutions, codes, and ordinances of tribal jurisdictions reveals a broad range of consequences - the impact of which has not been comprehensively, and critically, examined. Like state and federal jurisdictions, tribal law attaches thousands of legal disabilities to tribal offices, business licenses and permits, social services, and civil rights for persons with criminal convictions. This is especially true in economically important industries such as gaming and resource extraction; additionally, rapidly changing areas such as marijuana regulation and sex offender registries expand the scope still further.
