Abstract

In 1629 France invaded Italy. Richelieu desired an expedition against Savoy, he wished to claim the Duchy of Mantua for the Due de Nevers. And he wished to thwart Spanish interests in Italy. In so doing the General Toiras captured Casales upon which the Spanish General Spinola promptly laid siege. This pamphlet is an account of the morale of the troops and the supplies which exist at Casales. The end of the pamphlet also announces the death of Spinola on 23 September 1630 ; Electronic reproduction ; 16 p.; 17 cm.
