Rethinking the French Integration Model in the Light of Interculturality ; Repenser l'intégration républicaine à l'aune de l'interculturalité

International audience ; This article analyses the French system of « republican integration » and emphasizes the potential contribution of intercultural communication to inform and accompany public policy reforms currently taking place in this domain. Companies spend a lot of money on training for expatriate managers, while tens of thousands of other migrants, often alienated from society, do not have the benefit of such cultural awareness training. In the light of a recent parliamentary white paper on the integration of migrants (February 2018), different paradigms-value-based, social constructionist or critical-are used to highlight the current logic and underlying social dynamics of the republican integration system. Based on a local study of institutional bodies and voluntary-sector activity involving migrant integration in the greater-Dijon area, the article outlines ways to improve integration through cultural awareness training for migrants and other stakeholders. ; Cet article analyse le dispositif français d'intégration républicaine et souligne le potentiel des apports de la communication interculturelle pour accompagner et informer la réflexion en cours autour de la réforme de la politique publique dans le domaine. Les entreprises forment leurs cadres expatriés pour réduire le choc culturel, alors que des dizaines de milliers d'autres migrants, souvent en marge de la société, ne bénéficient pas d'actions semblables de sensibilisation culturelle. A la lumière du rapport Taché sur l'intégration des migrants (février 2018), différents paradigmes-fondés sur les valeurs, ou socio-constructionnistes, critiques-sont exposés pour éclairer les logiques actuelles du dispositif républicain et les dynamiques sociales associées. A partir d'une étude locale des acteurs institutionnels et associatifs de l'accueil des migrants dans l'agglomération dijonnaise, l'article propose des pistes pour développer des actions de sensibilisation culturelle pour les différents acteurs concernés.
