Migrants as news ; Migrantes como noticia

Abstract

Migration has become part of the media agenda, especially in the written press, even exclusive sections have been created in that area. Therefore, it is important to analyze the materials produced under the magnitude of the academic considerations of the journalistic task.On the issue of migration, journalists have established main sources: the opinion of emigrants and immigrants, who in the end are the protagonists; and the most used genre to publish the information is the news, basic journalistic form to give cold data and without analysis. Migration theme disseminated with different prisms established by aspects such as legal issues, death, problems (arrests, raids, deportation), laws, protests, abuse, aid, electoral politics in El Salvador and the United States, health campaigns, education, AIDS, return volunteer, culture, women, children and adolescents and the migrant's route.The analysis was made of news published from June 2007 to June 2008, in five newspapers in El Salvador. Journalists and editors working in the area were interviewed, with the aim of showing the image that the media builds and disseminates. ; La migración ha pasado a formar parte de la agenda de los medios de comunicación, sobre todo en prensa escrita, incluso se han creado secciones exclusivas en esa área. Por ello es importante analizar bajo la lupa de las consideraciones académicas del quehacer periodístico los materiales producidos.En el tema migratorio, los periodistas han establecido fuentes principales: la opinión de emigrantes e inmigrantes, que al final son los protagonistas; y el género más utilizado para publicar la información es la noticia, forma periodística básica para dar datos fríos y sin análisis. Tema migratorio difundido con diferentes prismas establecidos por aspectos como cuestiones legales, muerte, problemas (arrestos, redadas, deportación), leyes, protestas, maltratos, ayuda, política electoral en El Salvador y Estados Unidos, campañas de salud, educación, sida, retorno voluntario, cultura, mujer, niños y adolescentes y la ruta del migrante.El análisis se realizó de noticias publicadas desde junio de 2007 a junio de 2008, en cinco periódicos de El Salvador. Se entrevistó a periodistas y editores que trabajan en el área, con el objetivo de mostrar la imagen que los medios de comunicación construyen y difunde.
