Encuentros artísticos con el dolor, las memorias y las violencias

Abstract

El artículo examina las pugnas del recuerdo y el olvido en comunidades afectadas y divididas por la violencia. Mira a un proyecto de arte público comunitario que reunió mi investigación antropológica sobre jóvenes, memoria y violencia, el trabajo de arte público de la artista Suzanne Lacy, el trabajo comunitario de una coalición de organizaciones gubernamentales y no gubernamentales y el liderazgo de un grupo de residentes del barrio Antioquia en Medellín (Colombia). ; The article examines the politics of remembering and forgetting in communities divided and affected by violence. It looks at a public art project that brought together my anthropological research on youth, memory, violence and place in Medellín, the public art work of visual artist Suzanne Lacy, the community work of a coalition of several local government and non government organizations and the leadership of a group of residents from Barrio Antioquia in Medellin (Colombia). The community art project created a museum of memory in a public transit bus as a meaningful place that activated processes of individual and collective mourning and that invited individuals and the community to envision the future and address issues of mourning, pacific co-existence and reconciliation.
