Philologen in der NS-Schrifttumspolitik und ihre Observationen der Gegenwartsliteratur 1933–1945
Abstract
During the 1930s and 1940s, the publishing sphere in Germany had toadapt to substantial ideological imperatives. It was subject to the control ofvarious often rivaling institutions of censorship. These censoring institutionsemployed literary scholars to observe and influence the growing production ofbooks and magazines. This paper reconstructs the practices these literary scholarsemployed for dealing with contemporary literature in an ideologically conditio-ned setting. It engages with the still largely unexplored relation between acade-mic socialization, interpretative practices and politically motivated interventions. ; Peer Reviewed
