Les pratiques de fact-checking journalistique participatif, entre contraintes et intérêts

Abstract

Les unités journalistiques dites de fact-checking, consacrées à la vérification de l'information et des propos des gouvernants ou des personnalités, ont opéré en 2017 une conversion vers le « debunking » ou « démystification de rumeurs », en accentuant désormais la participation des publics. Cet article examine le cas emblématique de la rubrique de Libération devenue "CheckNews", qui collecte les questions de ses usagers sur des informations qu'ils souhaitent voir vérifiées. Comment s'est opérée la synthèse entre journalisme participatif et fact-checking, et en répondant à quels principes ? Fondé sur l'analyse du site CheckNews.fr et sur l'analyse des critères réglementaires de certification des cellules journalistiques de vérification de l'information, cet article se donne pour ambition d'y répondre, et de mettre en perspective les pratiques, les limites et les craintes d'une telle ouverture aux publics. ; Fact-checking journalistic units, dedicated to verify claims by politicians or by personalities, have transformed their model into debunking in 2017 ; in so doing, they enhanced the participation of their users. This articles examines the case of the French daily Libération's fact-checking unit, "CheckNews", which collects the questions of its users on information they wish to see verified. How was the synthesis between participatory journalism and fact-checking made, and following which principles ? This article is based on the analysis of the site CheckNews.fr and of the regulatory criteria to certify fact-checking units ; it aims to put the practices, the limits and fears of such an opening to the public in perspective.
