Abstract

The article deals with the influence of civilmovements on political process. Modern politicsis going on not only in government, but also onthe streets and in the Internet. Citizens unitednot only by territorial but by ideological criteria,seek for allies and form social movements. Afeature of new social movements is their focus onmodern values. Civil movements are researchedboth in Ukrainian and in foreign politicalscience.Within authoritarian regime civil movementshave become the national force that unites allopposition in the country. «Color» and «velvet»revolutions were led by such movements. Ina democratic system social movements donot oppose to the foundations of the regime,their purpose is to protect certain categories ofpeople against discrimination, to improve theenvironmental situation, to change legislationetc. Separatist movements have become popularin European countries such as the UK, Spain,Italy in the recent times. Protest movements havebeen popular all over the world, and the eventsof Ukrainian 2013-2014 political crisis proved it.Social movements in Ukraine have a long historyand powerful influence on political process. In1991, Narodny Rukh initiated the independenceof Ukraine, in 2004, «Pora!» organized theOrange Revolution. In the 2013 «Тhe Rightsector» headed the «Euromaidan» campaign thatled to the revolution in Ukraine, the overthrowof Yanukovych and changes of the Constitution.However, the role of social movements in the2013-2014 social transformation needs furtherstudy and can be a subject of another research. ; Проанализированы основные аспектывлияния гражданских движений на ходобщественных трансформаций. Рассмотреныособенности функционирования движенийв условиях перехода к демократии.Особое внимание уделено сепаратистскимдвижениям современности и их влияниюна политический процесс. Рассмотрена рольобщественных движений в трансформацииполитической системы Украины насовременном этапе. ; Проаналізовано основні аспекти впливу громадських рухів на хід суспільнихтрансформацій. Розглянуто особливості функціонування рухів в умовах переходу до демократії. Приділено увагу сепаратистським рухам сучасності та їх впливу на політичний процес. Охарактеризовано роль громадських рухів у трансформації політичної системи України на сучасному етапі.
