Abstract

The article deals with the provincialism as a complex and multi-faceted phenomenon of social organization. The aim of this study is to explore the provincialism within the sociocultural discourse. This paper also intends to describe the provincialism in the context of the state- and nation-building process. The author examines the main approaches to issue that apply in the philosophical and culturological investigations. The author applies phenomenological, historical and descriptive scientific approaches to examine various aspects of the provincialism phenomenon. The study demonstrates a need for the application of complex systems and crossdisciplinary approaches. The paper focuses on the gnoseological issues of the complex and varied demonstrations of the provincialism in the local community.The paper particularly focuses on the provincial phenomenon formation; relations between the Centre and province (periphery), local and global factors of influence on provincial life, external and internal causes of the local community functioning; analysis of the provincial reflection phenomenon, the provincial mentality; studies typological features of the provincial culture. The article views localism as a socio-cultural phenomenon, which influence on the state-building (nation-building) process. The author also analyzes the political aspect of the provincialism. The study describes the provincialism in the context of the local community development and current problems investigation of regionalism. The author concludes that provincialism effects on the nation-building, the formation of national consciousness and national identity. The provincialism defines the existential meaning of the local community life, based on transcendental outlook.The provincialism keeps tradition and limits individual choice, forms skeptical attitude towards the external environment. The provincialism needs social integration and support the internal communication. The study demonstrates a need to form a new scientific direction «Philosophy of provincialism». ; Рассматривается провинциализм как социокультурный феномен. Анализируются основные подходы, наработанные в философской и культурологической литературе. Раскрываются гносеологические проблемы, связанные с комплексно-системным изучением этого феномена. Акцентируется внимание на сложности и многогранности проявлений провинциализма в организации общества, что способствует применению междисциплинарного подхода. Уточняется содержание и сущность основных категорий, раскрывающих провинциализм как явление общественной (культурной) жизни с учетом соотношения внешнего и внутреннего его аспектов, локального и общего (глобального). ; Розглядається провінціалізм як соціокультурний феномен. Аналізуються основні підходи, напрацьовані у філософській та культурологічній літературі. Розкриваються гносеологічні проблеми, пов'язані з комплексно-системним вивченням цього феномену. Акцентується увага на складності і багатогранності проявів провінціалізму в організації суспільства, що актуалізує застосування міждисциплінарного підходу. Уточнюється зміст і сутність основних категорій, які розкривають провінціалізм як явище суспільного (культурного) життя з огляду на співвідношення зовнішнього і внутрішнього його аспектів, локального і загального (глобального).
