Mínimum primary health care interventions for child survival. ; Intervenciones mínimas de atención primaria a la salud para la sobrevivencia en la infancia

Abstract

With the purpose of exposing some of the underlying issues, the first part of the artic/e discusses the background and assurnp tio ns inherent lo the idea al minimum primary health care interventions for child survival. The second part puts forward some areas for study, based upon their potential importance to child healtb and survival. International and national approaches lo "minimum interventions" area seen as being rooted in their political contexts, including the wider debate ove, the relationships between economic growth, development and the meeting of basic needs. To have relevance for healtb planning and management, it is argued that research agendas concerned with the impact of primary health care (PHC)interventions upon child survival must be: country-specific; star witb 'what is "; and take entire national [rameworks into account, including the respective roles and effects of the private and public sectors. Potentially usefui research activities are discussed in the areas of coverage and resource allocation, and witñ regard to the development of minimum normsand standards. Proposa/s are made for setting a research agenda for PHC programes in Mexico ; En la primera parte de este documento se discuten los antecedentes y las suposiciones inherentes a la idea de las intervenciones minimas de atención primaria a la salud para la sobrevivencia en la infancia. En la segunda parte se exponen algunas áreas de estudio, con base en su importancia potencial respecto de la salud y la sobrevivencia en la infancia. Los enfoques nacionales e internacionales sobre "intervenciones minimas" se consideran arraigadas en sus contextos políticos, incluyendo el amplio debate sobre las relaciones que existen entre el crecimiento económico, el desarrollo y la satisfacción de necesidades básicas.
