Correlation between the graduate-students' perception of educational philosophies and their democratic attitudes

Abstract

2nd World Conference on Educational Sciences (WCES-2010) - FEB 04-08, 2010 - Bahceschir Univ, Istanbul, TURKEY ; WOS: 000282002805130 ; The purpose of study is to investigate the correlation between the graduate students' perceptions of educational philosophies and their democratic attitude. The participants of the study are the graduate students completing their master's studies in the Education Faculty of Mu la University in 2008-2009 academic year (n=45+46=91) in a program that do not require them to write a thesis to complete their studies. In the collection of the data, "Philosophical Preferences Evaluation Form" and "democratic attitude scale" were used. The results revealed that there is significant difference among the groups in terms of their perception for the educational philosophies of idealism, experimentalism and existentialism.
