Abstract

The scholars who study Indonesian democracy oftenly trapped to the idea of transitology and consolidology and conclude that Indonesian democratization phase did not deliver because it did not follow the footprint of Western democratization process. However Indonesian democratization process is progressing although not similar with the experiences of other developing countries. Based on that, the idea of Indonesian democratization is derived from four basic principles of the nation that are Pancasila, The Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia, 1945 Constitution, and Bhineka Tunggal Ika principle.Keywords : Indonesia, Democracy, Transition
