The Holy Spirit and ecclesiological political theology: Erik Peterson and Yves Congar ; El Espíritu Santo y la teología política eclesiológica: Erik Peterson e Yves Congar

Abstract

Abstract: In this paper, I will argue that a Christian Political Theology is mostly to be found in the concepts of the Church and in the performance of the Holy Spirit by examining the works of Erik Peterson and Yves Congar. For both theologians, the political dimension of ecclesiology is grounded on the action of the Holy Spirit, especially considering the birth of the Church in Pentecost, and the pneumatological nature of the sacraments. Although Political Theology focused mainly on the persons of the Father and the Son, I aim at showing how a Christian Political Theology is ultimately grounded on the conceptual transferences between the political and the theological that the Holy Spirit makes possible through the Church: if there is a Christian Political Theology, it is essentially ecclesiological and pneumatological. ; Resumen: En este artículo, intentaré mostrar, a partir de las obras de Erik Peterson y de Yves Congar, que una teología política cristiana debe buscarse ante todo en el concepto de Iglesia y en la actividad del Espíritu Santo. Para ambos teólogos, la dimensión política de la eclesiología está basada en la acción del Espíritu Santo, especialmente si consideramos el nacimiento de la Iglesia en Pentecostés y la naturaleza pneumatológica de los sacramentos. Si bien la teología política se ha dedicado fundamentalmente a examinar las personas del Padre y del Hijo, intentaré mostrar cómo una teología política cristiana está en última instancia fundamentada en las transferencias conceptuales entre lo político y lo teológico que la figura del Espíritu Santo hace posible a través de la Iglesia: si hay una teología política Cristiana, es esencialmente de carácter eclesiológica y pneumatológica.
