¿Religiones sin Dios? Hans Kelsen antropólogo de la modernidad ; Religions without God? Hans Kelsen, Anthropologist of Modernity

Abstract

En 2012 se publicó Secular Religion, una obra inédita del autor austríaco Hans Kelsen, filósofo del derecho, escrita entre 1952 y 1964 en los Estados Unidos. En esta obra, Kelsen realiza una serie de críticas a aquellas teorías de la política y la cultura que, principalmente a la luz del concepto de "Religión secular", interpretan erróneamente la filosofía social, la ciencia y la política modernas como nuevas religiones. En la primera parte de este ensayo, realizaremos un recorrido por aquellos hechos que han influido en la versión final del libro de Kelsen, subrayando los motivos que le indujeron a escribir esta polémica obra en defensa del espíritu de la modernidad, y por último en retirarla. En la segunda parte, daremos cuenta de algunas de las principales contribuciones metodológicas y teóricas que esta obra, aún en su implementación crítica, es capaz de ofrecernos a una antropología de la modernidad. ; In 2012 an unpublished book by the Austrian legal philosopher Hans Kelsen, Secular Religion, has been posthumously published. This book, written by Kelsen between 1952 and 1964 in the United States, severely criticizes those theories of politics and culture that misinterpret modern social philosophy, science and politics as new religions, mainly adopting the controversial concept of "secular religión." In the first part of the paper, we reconstruct the genesis of the book and the complex events that led to its final version, and we underline the motives that led Kelsen to write this vehement polemic in defense of the spirit of modernity, and eventually to withdraw it. In the second part of the paper, we investigate some of the main methodological and theoretical contributions that this work, albeit its critical tenor, is able to give to an anthropology of modernity.
