Magisterio colombiano: Organización sindical y actor político. Antecedentes históricos, 1934-1958

Abstract

Colombian teachers to the state's service or bound to the public edu- cation represent a syndically organized sector, with relative capacity of movilization and incidence in the society and in the current politics. We analyze the historic process, landmarks and polices which have invigorated the conformation of the magistery as syndical organi- zation, and then as political actor this analysis was made from the later thirties to the later fifties in the twentieth century. We go on in testing the social condition of the magisterial, trying to set the main aims and failures, included in the frame of the initial progress of the workers movement and its later slump. The analysis allows relate polices and actors, facts and land- marks that define and address the Colombian teacher's struggle and their efforts to become the educa- tion and the teaching into important activities with social recognition. ; Los maestros colombianos al servicio del Estado o vinculados a la educación pública (financiada por él) representan un sector organizado gremialmente, con relativa capacidad de movilización e incidencia en la sociedad y en la política actual. Estudiamos el proceso histórico, hitos y políticas que dinamizaron el proceso de conformación del magisterio como organización sindical y más tarde como actor político. El período objeto de este análisis comprende la década de los años treinta hasta los años finales de la década de los cincuenta del siglo XX. Se avanza en el examen de la condición social del magisterio, pretendiendo ubicar los principales logros y fracasos, comprendidos en el marco del inicial progreso del movimiento obrero y su posterior declive. El análisis permite relacionar políticas y actores, hechos e hitos que marcan, definen, enrumban la lucha reivindicativa de los maestros colombianos y sus esfuerzos por convertir a la educación y la docencia en actividades de importancia y reconocimiento social.
