Development of European inland fish culture and domestication of new species ; Développement de la pisciculture continentale européenne et domestication de nouvelles espèces

Abstract

International audience ; European inland fish culture is presently facing several difficulties: the classical products for the consumption market (trout, carp) is showing decreasing production (bad image of the products with consumers) and the restocking market is falling due to a substantial decline in the number of anglers. Considering such a context, inland pisciculture renewal is possible through a diversification of products and a domestication of new species based on numerous specific local markets which already exist in Europe. The present development of percid culture (Eurasian perch, Perca fluviatilis; pikeperch, Sander lucioperca) constitutes a good example. However, to induce a real economic dynamic, it is necessary to develop a generic approach for the domestication of new species in order to reduce the costs linked to such processes. ; La pisciculture continentale européenne rencontre actuellement de réelles difficultés, ses filières classiques pour le marché de la consommation (truite, carpe) voient leurs productions diminuer (déficit d'image des produits), et le marché du repeuplement régresse du fait d'une perte d'attractivité du loisir pêche. Face à ce contexte délicat, un renouveau est envisageable par une diversification des productions et la domestication de nouvelles espèces en s'appuyant sur les nombreux marchés de niche existants en Europe. Le développement récent de la perciculture (perche commune, Perca fluviatilis ; sandre, Sander lucioperca) constitue un bon exemple. Cependant, pour enclencher une réelle dynamique économique, il est nécessaire de concevoir une approche générique de la domestication afin de limiter les coûts induits par la domestication de nouvelles espèces.
