An introduction to the spanish steamship river navigation projects in 19th century ; Un acercamiento a los proyectos de navegación fluvial mediante embarcaciones a vapor en la España del siglo XIX

Abstract

The historical changes that happens in Spain during the 18th Century had a great influence not only in politics and society of the moment but also in the commercial view because of the new burocratic sistem that comes with the First Industrial Revolution. In this article we are going to see how some characters of the age as a brigadier or spanish or outlanders businessmen were concern for a modern inside comunicative sistem by rivers based on steamboat, trhough spanish river navigation projects by steamboat in the 19th Century for the Guadalquivir, Ebro and Tajo rivers. ; Los cambios históricos que acontecen durante el siglo XVIII en cuanto a las políticas comerciales de España van a tener una importante repercusión en el país. Una de estas repercusiones será la revalorización y modernización de los puertos y la puesta en marcha de todo un sistema eficiente de comunicación interior fluvial y terrestre que se encontraba en pésimas condiciones. Nosotros nos vamos a centrar en el estudio de tres proyectos de navegación fluvial redactados durante la primera mitad del siglo XIX, los cuales se basaron en el uso del vapor adaptado a la navegación por los ríos Guadalquivir, Ebro y Tajo, respectivamente.
