BUREAUCRACY, POLITICS AND CORRUPTION IN SPAIN ; "BUROCRACIA, POLÍTICA Y CORRUPCIÓN EN ESPAÑA"

Abstract

The search for reasons to explain the levels of corruption that are measured in different international indices is one of the recurring themes of the political science and public administration literature. A recent stream of research has upheld that one of those causes can be found in the kind of bureaucratic institutions of a particular political system. This article aims to discuss this argument in its actual application to the Spanish case, taking into account the peculiarities of our system of public employment and how they affect the conclusions drawn by this line of research. ; La búsqueda de razones que expliquen los niveles de corrupción que se miden en los distintos índices internacionales es uno de los temas recurrentes de la literatura especializada. Una reciente línea de investigación viene sosteniendo que una de aquellas causas puede encontrarse en el tipo de instituciones burocráticas de un determinado sistema político. Este artículo tiene como objetivo debatir este argumento en su virtual aplicación al caso español, a partir de las peculiaridades de nuestro sistema de empleo público y de cómo éstas afectan a las conclusiones obtenidas por dicha línea de investigación
