L'aristocratie suédoise et la France dans la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle
Abstract
During the eighteenth century, relations between France and Sweden were excellent and the diplomatic contacts were very close. Rather than looking at the studies of the cultural or political influences, this article aims to analyze the links between foreign policy, public charges and special interests of the Swedish actors involved in these contacts. The relationship between the Swedish nobility and France is placed in the context of court society, with its logic of giving and being given and its complex interplay of political loyalties and honor. Similarly the diplomatic exercise and investment in military affairs follow the aristocratic models of representation and prestige. ; Peer reviewed
