Politique sociale et transformation sociale : justice et mouvements sociaux dans le domaine de l'enseignement supérieur en Colombie 1998-2014

Abstract

This thesis analyses the impact and the transformational potential of the Student Movement and the Indigenous Autonomous Intercultural University in higher education in Colombia in the period 1998-2014. By taking the objectives and methods provided by sociology of emergences, the thesis proposes a relational theory of exclusion and inequality that display the structural, participative and positional dimensions that compose the social relations. In this way, the thesis defends the concepts of enjoyment and production of common, equality of results and the epistemology of unjust to understand what exclusion and inequality are, and how to overcome those situations. The document shows how the Student Movement and Indigenous Autonomous Intercultural University have tried to overcome the situations of exclusion and inequality produced by class relations, ethnicity, gender, regional origin, international dependence, disability and epistemicide in higher education. By recognizing the symbiotic, counterhegemonic and ruptural ways of social transformation that emerge from social struggles, the thesis defines the impact and transformational potential of student and indigenous struggles in order to build a higher education system based on the right to education, the production of common and the intercultural dialogue. All these objectives opposed to the overcrowded, heteronomous, and hierarchically organized system that prevails nowadays in Colombia. ; (POLS - Sciences politiques et sociales) -- UCL, 2017
