Le culte des saints et l'idéologie royale en Hongrie sous Mathias Corvin (1458-1490)

Abstract

This essay focuses on Mathias Corvin's reign under a religious approach. The study attempts to demonstrate the use of cult of the saints by the ruler for the royal ideology. The cult of the saints is linked to the sainthood and medieval faith. The royal ideology is a notion connected to the worlds of power. This essay is unique because this subject hasn't be studying yet. It's a new approach of Mathias Corvin's reign. This innovation concerns also the study of sources whom is unreleased. The sources are analyse under spiritual aspect and no more under military or political point of vue. The source's study leads to question in which way Mathias Corvin used the cult of the saints for his royal ideology. This essay suggests an answer to this question by a double approach : a analytic approach of the cult of the saints associated to an hypotetical approach on the aims linked to this cult. We are interested by the aims behind actes and try to make a short synthesis about the cult of the saints under Mathias Corvin's reign (art, litterature, etc.). By the perpetuation for the veneration to traditional hungarian saints to the promotion of some saints which were « national » saints, Mathias Corvin used holy figures to purchase legitimy and prestige for his royal power. ; Ce mémoire de recherche a pour vocation de traiter le règne de Mathias Corvin, roi hongrois du XVe siècle, sous un angle religieux. Cette étude tente de montrer que le culte des saints fut utilisé par le souverain à des fins d'idéologie royale. Le culte des saints est une composante indissociable de la sainteté et de la religion au Moyen Âge. L'idéologie royale, quant à elle, est une notion connectée aux sphères du pouvoir. Cette étude est inédite car le sujet n'a pas encore été travaillé. Il s'agit donc d'un nouvel angle d'approche du règne de Mathias Corvin.
