Entre lo regional y lo nacional: Una propuesta metodológica a través de una selección historiográfica del Partido Liberal y el Partido Laborista de Inglaterra ; Between the regional and the national: A methodological approach to the historiography of the Liberal Party and the Labor Party in England

Abstract

La historiografía inglesa ha establecido la importancia de la historia regional para alcanzar una historia política distinta. Los estudios sobre el Partido Liberal y el Partido Laborista han demostrado que la fortaleza electoral de los partidos se encontraba en las regiones, siendo estas las que establecerían el avance de las colectividades. La historiografía hace hincapié en cómo las dinámicas políticas regionales se diferencian a las nacionales, creando así toda una complejidad política partidista. Esta "personalidad" que se le atribuye a la política regional es interesante pues parte de la premisa que el poder partidista no emerge necesariamente desde la cúpula, sino desde la base. La historiografía inglesa, además, afirma la existencia de una relación entre ambos espacios. Pareciera contradictorio, pero esa relación no es continua, aunque sí necesaria para el entendimiento de los procesos políticos. Este ensayo hace un recorrido por la historiografía política regional inglesa centrada en el Partido Liberal y Laborista, para así identificar un nuevo enfoque metodológico, donde el espacio regional es de vital importancia para alcanzar una historia política más precisa y completa. ; The English historiography has established the importance of the regional history to reach a different political history. Studies about the Liberal Party and the Labor Party have enriched with this methodological approach, thus proven that the electoral strength of the parties relies in the regions. The historiography emphasizes in how the regional political dynamics are different to those at the national level, thus creating a whole political complexity. This "personality" that is attributed to regional politics is interesting because it starts from the premise that party power does not necessarily emerge from the top, but from the base.
