Abstract

Currently it is not possible to analyze the councils and the political life of towns in de Castilian Crown dispensing with the territorial nobility that owned lord lands in its surroundings. Therefore, this article's purpose is the study of the attraction that the urban settlements had for the nobility as well as the processes that allowed them to establish in them. As a result, we can observe how they determined the population politics decisively, the acting of the councils as well as the social basis on which both aspects were based. With this purpose, and with a regional perspective, I will resort to two examples that are sufficiently significant, but at the same time different enough to enrich the comparison. ; Quizá se haya hecho años atrás, pero en la actualidad no es posible analizar los concejos y la vida política de las ciudades de la Corona de Castilla prescindiendo de la nobleza territorial que tenía señoríos en su entorno. Así pues, este artículo pretende estudiar el atractivo que los núcleos urbanos tenían para dichos nobles y los procesos a través de los cuales se implantaron en ellos. De esta forma, podremos observar cómo, al hacerlo, condicionaron decisivamente la política ciudadana, la acción de los concejos, así como las bases sociales en que ambas cosas se apoyaban. A tal fin se recurrirá, con una cierta perspectiva regional, a dos ejemplos que son suficientemente significativos, pero entre los cuales hay diferencias que enriquecen la comparación.
