El desarrollo del teletrabajo: aspectos cuantitativos ; Telework development: Quantitative aspects

Abstract

El teletrabajo o trabajo desde casa se ha desarrollado de forma progre siva en las últimas décadas. Los factores que más han favorecido su crecimiento han sido la mejora del capital humano y de las infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones, que son aspectos cruciales y necesarios para llevar a cabo la actividad laboral de forma remota y con los equipos necesarios para ellos. El avance de la globalización y la di gitalización de la economía ha sido parejo con el incremento de este tipo de trabajo. La situación acaecida como consecuencia de la Covid-19 ha supuesto un empuje forzoso al incremento en el uso de esta tipología de trabajo. Este estudio analiza los datos de trabajo desde casa, o teletrabajo, en el contexto de la Unión Europea y su evolución como consecuencia de la Pandemia Covid-19. Se observan diferencias en el avance a nivel territorial, sectorial, familiar y educativo debido a carencias de capital físico y humano y, también, a las características particulares de cada tipo de actividad. ; Teleworking or working from home has developed progressively in re cent decades. The factors that have most favoured its growth have been the improve ment of human capital and telecommunications infrastructures, being crucial aspects for the use of the necessary elements to carry out remote work and the use of the neces sary equipment. The advance of globalization and the digitization of the economy has been in line with the increase in this type of work. The situation that occurred as a re sult of Covid-19 has push forward to increase the use of this type of work. This paper studies the data of work from home or telework in the context of the European Union and its evolution as a consequence of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Differences are observed at the territorial, sectoral, family and educational levels due to the lack of physical and human capital and also to the particular characteristics of each type of activity.
