Strumenti digitali e geografia sociale: le rappresentazioni degli spazi della 'nuova élite' in Sicilia nel periodo della Luogotenenza borbonica ; Digital Tools and Urban Geography: the Representations of the Spaces of the 'New Élite' in Sicily during the Bourbon Lieutenancy

Abstract

In questa ricerca sono state realizzate delle carte tematiche digitali di una città di "medie dimensioni", quella di Misterbianco, durante il primo periodo della riforma amministrativa del 1817 in Sicilia, con lo scopo di indagare i rapporti e i nessi logici tra la nuova classe politica locale e lo spazio urbano. La serie di dati utilizzata per la costruzione delle rappresentazioni è stata ricavata da fonti archivistiche prodotte dalle autorità borboniche: le Liste degli eleggibili . Gli esiti grafici ottenuti dall'analisi dei documenti prodotti nel 1818, 1825, 1832 e 1839 mettono in evidenza una geografia del potere locale in cui sono chiare, tra una Lista e l'atra, le differenti relazioni esistenti tra i "quartieri" e le nuove élites della città. Queste restituzioni cercheranno di mettere in evidenza parte degli effetti spaziali della politica territoriale, tentando di essere degli agili strumenti interpretavi e un esempio di sintesi tra ricerca geostorica e utilizzo di nuove tecnologie. ; In this research thematic digital maps representing a "middle-size town", that of Misterbianco, during the first period of the Sicilian administrative Reform of 1817, have been realized with the aim of investigating the relations between the new political local class and the urban space. The data used for the production of the cartographies was retrieved from archival sources produced by Bourbon authorities, i.e. the Liste degli eleggibili (Lists of electable people). The graphical results obtained from the analysis of the documents produced in 1818, 1825, 1832 and 1839 highlighted the geography of local power, thanks to which the different relationships between "neighbourhoods" and the new élites have been pointed out. The elaborations aim to show that electable people, depending on their origins and the degree of education and wealth, were concentrated in some areas of the town, which varied according to the different Lists.
