Victoria's Declining FosterCare Allowances: A Comparative Analysis

Abstract

The SPRC provided Berry Street, Victoria with information quantifying the gap between the foster care estimates (FCEs) and Victoria's current foster carer allowances, estimating how much it would cost the State Government to close that gap. Reference is made to kinship carers who are entitled to receive payments on the same basis as foster carers. Data is provided on levels of current carer subsidies and FCEs for all jurisdictions. Dollar amounts and percentage differences between levels of carer subsidies and FCEs for the period 2007-14 are included.
