ISO 14001 and Federal Facilities (Part 2)
In: Federal facilities environmental journal, Band 12, Heft 2, S. 113-116
Abstract
AbstractFederal facilities would be expected to have a substantial head start on conformance to ISO 14001. Federal
and agency requirements have typically required a procedural, standardized approach to management, and this is
the heart and soul of the ISO system. This article will discuss the standard, element by element, to suggest
where federal facilities can take advantage of efforts already expended to meet existing requirements. The
elements must be regarded as nodes of a network, however. Facilities considering an environmental management
system, whether ISO 14001 or another alternative, must create an overlying documentation that directs the user
to the location of these nodes and how they relate to each other. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
