Abstract
The adoption by the Italian parliament of Law No. 374 on 29 October 1997, entitledRules for the ban of anti-personnel land-mines, formalizes the transformation of Italy from one of the major producers of such mines to one of the leaders of national and international initiatives for the ban of antipersonnel landmines.
