Abstract
This article discusses the experience of the Nuevo South Action‐Research Collaborative, a university–community collaborative involving an interdisciplinary group of faculty and students from East Carolina University and Latino community organizations. The article describes the collaborative formation process and places it within the context of the southeast as a new destination for Latino immigration. The collaborative formation process is discussed from the point of view of a complex encounter characterized by concurrences and tensions.
