Abstract
Aline Angoustures,
Difficulties and paradoxes of the duty of memory : the children of Spanish refugees.
The Spanish refugees in France sought to pass on their historical and cultural experience to succeeding generations, separated from the past and from Spain. Yet, transmission of the Civil War experience to children born between 1925 and 1940 was not always easy. A portion, at least, of these children were unable to drop the agonized memory of the conflict of 1936-39 ; they had much in common with the same generation inside Spain itself. This was notably the case of the generation of the elite that lived through the Transition.
