Les malentendus de l'urgence médicale

Abstract
Misunderstandings in medical emergencies.
Misunderstandings are frequent in medical emergencies. The patient and carer come together in a timeframe pared down to instantaneousness and immediacy. The patient requests or requires care, the carer has the skills required to help. Yet far from agreeing on their complementarity at every moment, carers and patients often hold a very different vision of what is urgent and this is liable to contribute to their disagreement and be a source of a number of misunderstandings. These misunderstandings seem particularly highlighted when caring for people who are down-and-out or in a situation of interculturality. Far from being limited to the frame of the carer/ patient relationship, the misunderstandings identified can also be found in hospital teams and in the context of partnerships between intra- and extra-hospital services.
