Abstract

In a soldier's mind, the sole objective of both their commitment and preparation is victory. Over the course of their career, they may be brought to experience victory in several forms: victory on the front, and victory in the rear. Though the former may be more emblematic, as it is the final accomplishment of military undertakings, it is only made possible through planning and the organic procedures that take place in the silence of the barracks and headquarters. What's more, victory in arms is only possible if leaders enjoy solid support from their men. What, then, does victory truly entail? An answer can be found in the success of France's "Operation Serval".
