( Nineteenhundredandeighty) 1980: Students struggle for their schools
In: Communications (Cape Town), 13/1987
Abstract
The account presented in this book does not attempt to cover comprehensively what occurred nationwide in Black schools during 1980. It focusses rather on what happened in and around specifically Coloured schools of Cape Town. Even within this domain, the degree of detail varies as the account moves, for instance, from outlining generally what students were doing during a particular phase of the boycott to the documentation of a specific demonstration or from overviewing the proceedings at numerous community meetings to putting down the plot of a play staged by a principal to help parents understand the point their children were trying to make
