Abstract

After presenting the basic facts of the Chilean trade performance, the stages of tariffs, the movements of the exchange rate, and the evolution of exports and imports, the article provides the overall macroeconomic environment and sequence of arrangements which were implemented during the trade reform. The interrelationship of the trade reform with the fiscal reform and with the liberalization of the capital account is discussed. (DÜI-Sen)
