"Whilst earlier studies of language planning and of standardisation have tended to study macro processes such as top-down language revitalisation campaigns or language polices at government level, this volume is in line with more recent work aimed at bridging the macro and the micro levels by examining how the two interact and influence each other. The aim of the volume as a whole is to contribute to a better understanding of the motivations underlying language users' decisions to adopt or resist language norms and policies of various kinds in their daily life.
