Abstract

"This is a compilation of essays on a swathe of subjects: economics, politics, law, finance, education, media, military, international relations, focusing on public policy in an emerging economy, in a key African state. Put together in one neat volume, they are at once original, as they are full in depth and breadth. The methodological approach to this collection was innovative in its design. It was based on a careful dissection of crucial aspects of public policy in their raw elements, and placed in the context of their conceptual and empirical groundings. It is bearing witness to a marriage between theory and practice. This is then used to critique policy choices, and proffer alternative options to fill the lacunae where necessary. The eclectic mix of theories deployed for analysis stands it out from the conventional approach seen in standard textbooks."
