These collected articles bring to light little known documents produced in the pre-modern Arabic world, including diplomatic, legal, epistolary, and talismanic texts. They collectively explore the idea of what a document is, concluding that each document must be treated holistically, that researches must focus on both the material nature of a source as much as its text
